If what the model is showing comes true, 12+ inches is possible.

Biggest storm I ever saw was 2004/2005 winter. My senior year of HS. We missed one full week of school from the storm. It snowed 26+ everywhere, with some places getting almost 36".
... I had so much fun driving that whole week. : D Plus, we ended up having the shortest senior year ever. Our principle personally exempted the seniors from an extra 2-3 days that the state mandated we attend just because we were already at graduation.
I'm excited though... this could mean great skiing.

It saddens me to know that there will never be a snow storm like the one in 2001 in New York.
I miss wrestling on snow piles twice my size D:

How much snow did you get in 2001? Why would there never be a snow storm like one in 2001? You may get a bigger one this year.

The NWS is starting to issue more and more warnings and watches. Check your local weather statements if you live in the effected ares, or is it affected? I never get those right.
Here's a quote I saw "Dt just updated and now going with 6-10 for NYC and 10-20 for eastern LI."
The general feeling is a lot of places will see over 12 inches of snow. Some people are throwing around 20-40 inches.

I checked the weather again, and it looks like some parts of Western PA will be affected. The warnings are for the southern area along the Maryland border. I hope this doesn't spread--I have a trip to Pittsburgh planned this weekend.

It should mainly effect location closer to the coast, but you never know what can happen. One weather model suggests Philly could have 55 inches of snow, but most feel that's way over done. :)

I just thought of something. How do the folks in Philly handle snowstorms? Because here we're fairly used to them, but if they're not accustomed to getting much snow, well...
My aunt lives in State College. They have trouble with not only the snow, but the plows and other equipment. The way it works is because my region gets the most snow, the most and best equipment is sent to my region...leaving the other parts of the state with what's left. The fact she's near the mountains doesn't help either, even if our mountains are laughable compared to the Rockies.

I got a lot of snow. I think it may have been 2 feet, or something, because the whole place was covered in snow, streets were unusable, and I remember the streets feeling eerily quiet because not a single car could move through the snow.
Of course everything was plowed to the side much later in the day...

I want over a foot of snow, then next weekend I'll go snowboarding for the first time in so many years. Can't freaking wait to go once my paycheck gets in.

We've got snow over here in England! I have a towel wrapped around my arse right now because I rolled down a snowy hill 3 times and crawled on my stomach through the snow.
I disagree with the lack of hedgehog in this thread.

It's affected. You can have an effect on people, but you can become affected
You could also become infected, but that's something else entirely. *coughs*

What? And have the Pawtucket Patriot brewery cut off from the rest of the USA? Gods, Peter's liver is going to suffer this time.

Supposedly at least six inches of snow. on top of the half inch of ice in most areas and the tiny bit of snow left from the snowstorm a while back.
Hopefully they'll actually cancel school this time.

My boyfriend forwarded me a weather advisory he got as an alert on his phone. When I saw the "FW:" I was beginning to wonder if his account was compromised since he never sends forwards.
The strange thing is, it looks like my neck of the woods will be fine, but southern and eastern PA will be affected. It's usually the other way around. Wade's topic on the 12/8-12/10 blizzard lasted until 12/12 for me thanks to lake effect.

Started snowing here in Southwest VA about 40 minuets ago, already have about 3/4 inch. Time to bust out the Hot Cocoa, wrap up in a blanket, and enjoy it.
