Some parents make me so fucking angry like this morning. It was around 7 a.m. and I went to my local restaurant to chat with my buddy who works there. As I chatting with him a native couple walks in with 2 kids and one of them of only wearing a diaper. I'm thinking "What the fuck?" I waited for them to sit down and I approached them. I looked at the father and asked "Hey, it's like -30 out there, why is that infant only in a diaper?" He looked at me and replied "Mind your own business cracker, he was whining in the car so this is his punishment." Now I'm thinking "What the fuck!?!? The kid whines a bit and you strip him down to almost nothing as a punishment!?" I sat back down and waited until they left. As they got into their vehicle I scribbled down their plate number and told my buddy to call child and family services. If I had a cell I would have called myself. No kid should have parents like that.

Ah yes mental punishment. Parents put me in a tub full of ice when I was a kid. Wow that messed me up back in high school.

Yeah that horrible parenting. Idiots dont know how to parent because they get pregnant at 16, then decide to be bigger idiots and keep the baby, thereby ruining thier and the baby's lives, instead of just putting it for adoption, or abortion.

You should have just minded your own business, cracker. But really, some people should not be allowed to breed.
I am not witty or clever enough to make my own sig, thus I have stolen one instead.

I agree, that's pretty bad. You handle the situation well, though. I've heard stories of people trying to solve the issue by punching the parent in the face. It's good that you got Child Services into the picture, instead.

Especially since it's an infant, for two reason. The first is that babies cry. They cry all the time. Punishing them for it isn't going to work until they're old enough to understand why they shouldn't be crying. It's not only cruel, but completely useless.
The second reason is that, I believe, babies have weaker immune systems. Having them practically naked out in the middle of winter is dangerous.

No one is fit to be a parent at 16. It's just too young.

Better then parents getting thier kids no matter how horrible they are. There should be a parental qualification system, like a driver's license.

Just because you can drive doesn't mean you're qualified to reproduce. What I suggest is an examination system and background checks. Determine the intelligence of the individual, their past credit activities and their current employment prospects. If they're welfare cheats or dropped out of school in Grade 9, no dice. Just rip her Uterus out before she can use it.

It was only a few hundred years ago we used to kill pregnant women for adultery.
Honestly I feel it's a step up from the historical perspective.
Or a step down. We really need to be killing more people. Our laxity is starting to fuck up the environment.

I don't consider a fetus to be a person until the second trimester. Until that point, it's just an insentient mass of cells.

Some people do. You shouldn't be forced to abort, but forced to choose between abortion and giving it up for adoption.

Dude, that's AWESOME parenting.
it's better than parents who let their little shitty kids run about doing whatever they want.
Between the two, being lax is worse for everyone than being too strict.

I know. That's why I said "I don't consider." That's the problem with the whole abortion argument. Usually there's some sort of mutual underlying assumption that either side builds off of. For instance, "being poor is a bad place to be in; therefore, we should help the poor," or "being poor is a bad place to be in; therefore, being poor should motivate people to reach for success instead of relying on the government." In that argument, the idea that poverty is a problem is shared. You can argue empirically that no, well-fare isn't helping or no, that the poor don't always have the ability to pull themselves up on their own.
But with abortion, you don't even have that. You have "murder is wrong," yes, but you also have two different definitions of the idea of murder. So, the question becomes, "is abortion murder" and it's extremely hard create an empirical argument around that.

Neither is better than the other. Being lax brings the child up without a sense of personal responsibility and all that jazz that can lead the child in a bad direction, but being too strict is psychologically damaging. It also can also have immediate danger to the child.
Moderation is best.

My dad used to pull my hair, and on one occasion, he smacked my head into a chair.
But forcing your child to only wear a diaper? And at such cold temperatures? That prospect is simply retarded.
I ran. I ran until my muscles burned, and my veins pumped battery acid. Then I ran some more.

Did your buddy call child protective services? Because that is seriously fucked up. Babies cry. They're babies. That's what they do. The kid might wind up dead if that keeps up.

I am sorry, but why do people find it their business to get involved with everyone elses lives? Yes, it is bad that the parents only had the kid in diapers, but so what? Life sucks, you don't like how people treat other people, but that, in all honesty, is how life works.

Because if you see abuse and you can do something about it, you should. He was right to get his friend to call child services.
