New Flash Website Design 2009-12-11 13:55:42 Reply

Hey there,

I have just finished fine tuning my website for the third time, as this is the third change I have had to make I decided to spend a little more time on this one.

Completeley created in Flash mx & Fireworks mx. All background shapes were drawn in fireworks and transfered over to flash for animation. Font is called GASMASK and is avalaible for free off the internet.

Comments and criticisms are appreciated as I want this site to be perfect before I start putting stuff on it, but this time I felt like I have hit the nail on the head.

Latest Version - Version 3
NOTES: Final version for now everything hand drawn and animated FBF with tweens, coding by me and note that the titles Home, Flash and Conta etc are temporary, merely a label for each page so I checked that the transitions worked correctly.

Previous Version - Version 2
NOTES: The version I had been thinking about using, had the largest file size, looked the worst and the fonts were awful. Scrapped and gone thank god.

Prototype Version - Version 1
NOTES: The first version of my site, definatley went a step backward with the first design. I liked the clean layout of this site, but alas its quite small, had no nav bar and looked a little standard.

Thanks for viewing and thanks for any comments :)

I dont like Version 2 at all

Version 3, the spinny arrows are kinda annoying + the arrows tweening in every time u go to another page is just annoying and slow

I had no problems with Version 1... Well thats what I think

Version 1 is better than Version 3, and Version 3 is better than Version 2, so Version 1 is the best

or simplified

Version 1 > Version 3 > Version 2

I agree V1 was best , the other 2 were at 2 extremes , work on V1, make it bigger , smoother , and more proffesional looking , it has more potential, and dont mess around with the nav buttons so much , diagonal is definitley a bad idea

Check my site v 0.8.5

Did you do it in AS2 or 3 ? mines 3

Also could you tell me how id go about hosting a .co.cc site :) ?

I use AS2.

and .co.cc is totally free just make your site on a site like webs.com and you can then forward that domain name through the .co.cc website into blablah.co.cc

and I agree with you in that v2 sucks, but im still liking v3 the best.

The only reason i say v1 is because the coloring and angles/effects arent insane , it needs a lot of work first

Work on the color scheme , not to much blue or black and dont emphasize the nav bar too much then cut down on the filters and simplify the transitions so it performs well

Question - are you going to load the flash into the site SWF or just link to it on NG or something ?

and thanks for the help :)

mmm... I'll give it some thought, see what can be swaped around etc.

And as for flash I was going to host the file on again webs.com on a blank page and have a link to that blank page with the flash on it, as I have no idea how to load other SWF's in the site SWF.
