But the admins claim that they have a good way of getting rid of 0-bombing this time.

They should make your previous 10 votes or all votes visible on your profile, and/or limit your votes to 20 per week or 10 per day or something reasonable.

PS This weeks no.1 is awesome! *sarcasm*

i listened to like two seconds of the #1 this week and i just closed it right up.

im dissappoint though because i was close. my song had a score of 4.18(now it's like 3.87[damn 0-voters]) and it seems all the tops have ridiculously high scores (4.5+) which makes me suspicious, but I guess and i hope this promised redesign can change all of that.

To get on the weekly top 5 you generally need at least a 4.45, the #1 song usually has at least 4.50, although at one point I think I had about 4.43 and just barely managed to get on at #5.

I knew this was going to get a top 5 from the beginning, he got 11 votes with a 5.0 rating.

Not that the song isn't good, but you can't use vocals in a song, they're copyrighted, mod backup anyone?

Anyway, I loved the beat on first. Not sure if I agree on the two DnB tracks being so high, even though they're good. I feel the Audio Portal has better DnB.

The dubstep track is actually really good. And I don't like dubstep. But yeah, I'm not sure he's allowed to use the vocal samples he used. Shame, really. They fit very well at times.

It clearly states on the description in VEVO video.

Besides, a song like that definitely has a license, I'm sure.

Interesting... for the first 30 seconds. Feels like an unfinished idea. There's not a lot of interesting things going on in this song.

#2

F-777 does his thing, people enjoy it... it's getting a bit stale for me personally. I enjoy the nasty electro synth though.

#3

#4

#5

I'm sick of this type of music, so IDK. Good production though. I would criticize it for using copyrighted samples, but if xKore can get away with it, why can't this guy?

One of the better weeks this year

Like i commented last week, stop changing bass synth every second, no its not bad ass, and yes its annoying. Shoulda focus more on the automations than massive cookie cutter dubstep sounds.

Oh and the treble is unbearable to hear on this shitty system im on atm.

Why so pissy?

I'm not to judge because I disliked half of them, but there's no need to insult the authors that spent time on them.

In recent months, most of the Weekly Top Five tracks have been generic, boring, and a lot of the tracks sound like they're imitating deadmau5 or Skrillex. I realize that these authors spent time on their tracks, but when they're not going to try and develop their own sound, and instead ride solely on the coattails of another artist's style, then I have no respect for them.

As for why I'm "so pissy?" I don't like pop music, nor do I like electronic music -- trance, dance, electro, house, dnb, dubstep, and techno all sound to me like they require very little actual musical skill to compose. (Comparatively speaking, I mean. Many musicians in general are indeed lacking in talent, but on the whole electronic music requires much less talent and skill in theoretical knowledge, experimentation, and both composition and arranging techniques than composing for, say, a symphonic orchestra.)

Composing for a symphonic orchestra doesn't technically require anything either. You could just write a piece where the only thing they do is play a C major chord. Electronic music doesn't require shit for skills to make either, but the best and most intricate electronic music has just as much of an educated thought process behind it as any other music.

And the top 5 on Newgrounds does not accurately represent the best of electronic music. Just like it certainly doesn't represent the pinnacle of orchestral music.

on another note, let's be careful not to derail the thread TOO much

THIS may change the way you look at electronic music. Oh and btw the track on the link I just put there was made by an electronic musician ;)

And indeed as SBB mentioned the AP Top 5 does not represent the best of EDM... not even close my friend, so don't let it change your perception :)

Search around a bit b4 making assumptions. Even in the Audio Portal there's some great and original electronic music, you would be impressed.

A higher standard then that of past weeks, but nothing really captivated me. I think the first song was the most inspired but perhaps poorest done in terms of originality. No spam or proxied winners though so hoo-rah to that.

Phhht, don't mention how my entire piano segment was flawlessly recorded and way better than your spasm, broken up, choppy piano submissions are. Not to mention I can write my own music, I don't need to pick up classical music and change the key note to try and get something "new".
