Hey, will you look at that. http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Fallout_3_
add-ons
I figured that if you're willing to read posts on it, you're willing to read a wiki on it.

To share an opinion the linked article doesn't"
Not all DLC's are created equally. Some of them (notably Mothership Zeta, but Operation Anchorage in particular) feel like your paying for the loot, and the level is simply tacked on. Others, on the other hand, actually expand the current questlines and story in meaningful ways (like The Pitt, or Broken Steel).
I've listed them in order of importance (that is, 1 is a must buy, 5 is "take it or leave it")
1. Broken Steel
This addon is the only true expansion pack of the midst. It fixes the two main issues of the original mainquest, it's short length, and the fact you die forever at the end of it. By slightly tweaking the final scene, you character is saved, and lives to fight to find an ending with some actual sense of closer and accomplishment (*SPOILER* you find one). A must have for anyone with Fallout 3.
2. The Pitt
Adds a cool, new, more industrial downtown area to explore. Also, it goes a long way in exploring the relationships between the slavers and the slaves (which before is touched only briefly in about 3 quests or so). If you've beaten through Broken Steel, or just want a good expansion pack, this is a must.
3. Point Lookout
Big, decent looking new swamp area, and a fun questline to romp through. Worth your time, but not really a life necessity.
4. Operation: Anchorage
The game really tries it's darndest to show that it can be a competent FPS in it's own right, but falls flat on it's butt. Once an RPG, always an RPG. The combat is buggy, clunky, and downright boring in places. It has it's moments (mostly leading up to the point where you meet up with the rest of the army), but it's lack of polish is clearly evident.
The only thing keeping this higher than Mothership Zeta is the treasure trove of WW3 era equipment that is unlocked immediately afterwards, which includes some of the best equipment found in the game.
5. Mothership Zeta
Blurg. The only cool thing about this are the unique armors (which are more like costumes, really), and the neato set pieces.

Broken Steel and Point Lookout. Broken Steel raises the level cap, and Point Lookout adds a huge new area to the map. The auto axe you get from The Pitt is an incredible weapon, almost as much as the winterized T51B from Operation: Anchorage, so get those if you care about the gear the most. If you buy Broken Steel and Point Lookout, those are also the two DLCs with the most content.

This this this. Although, IMO, I liked Pitt more than Point Lookout. Either one should keep you happy, but get Broken Steel for sure.

Contains the original game plus all five expansions.
But i already have fallout. Theses no point in selling it and buying GotY version. Also isn't that shit like $70 or something? I 'd rather pay like what $30 for two expansions than sell my copy, get a $5-10 discount and basically spend $60.

Broken Steel is the only one I've got.
It's definitely good if you want to keep playing after the main quest, but other than that, "shit" doesn't quite describe how I feel about it.

This
I really liked the Fallout 3 plot, but never really enjoyed The Pitt, so I'd have to go for Point Lookout as the 2nd choice.

^ win
OP, I have them all and Point Lookout is by far my personal favorite, but like another user posted above, Broken Steel really is a must have for anyone who truly enjoyed the game. Kinda wraps things up.
The Pit was okay, Operation Anchorage bored me and like the other person posted, was a wanna be FPS and I still haven't finished Mothership Zeta or w/e because it doesn't really hold my attention either .

So what's that, like three wins on my behalf? :3

Seriously? That would take 2 seconds by googling fallout 3 dlc, rather than many minutes waiting for replies on here.

I got a bunch of links to nonsubjective wikipedia pages, a prerelease speculation article, and a forum discussion from back before Mothership Zeta was even announced.
Unless he wanted to spoil all the plot and surprises from the DLC packs by reading the Wiki, his only other option was a short, dated, and barebones forum thread that really just says which ones to get, not why, or any reasons that might otherwise influence his opinion (not to mention it has some bad advice, as well. They suggested Op. Anchorage on the grounds of an equipment glitch that I believe no longer exists).
Posting on a high traffic videogame forum is really the only way to get varied an up to date thoughts, opinions, and comparisons like this.

This could be a good plan. You'd get all five DLC's, and after reselling your old copy, you'd only end up paying like $25, or the cost of 2 1/2 DLC packs.
