Nope. I've never even heard of it. Any links?

well it's in a kind of pre-beta right now, you have to compile the source yourself and you can only run it of a bootable device (usb key, bootable disc, external hardrive) so if your up for that then yeah ill give you a link.

I have no knowledge whatsoever on compiling my own source. Thanks anyway.

That's possibly the coolest thing I've seen in a while. I'm excited, and I think I might try this out.
When I came here, I basically thought the topic-started was just fucking with us all, and being intentionally unhelpful for his own kicks. But for people who haven't found a link yet, I believe this site explains it. It should have the source code available, but I would think you need to be a power-user of sorts in order to figure this shit out.
This site contains design documents, architecture overviews, testing information, and more to help you learn to build and work with the Chromium source code.
Pretty useless without the WiFi. Since the compiled version is based off Ubuntu, cab you open a terminal and poke about until you activate your WiFi?
This is a Prime piece of real estate below.

it is beautiful, i have it on my netbook and it runs amazing. you log on with your google acc, and everything is synced, no need to log into anything, it takes 4 seconds to boot up with an SSHD, and its uber quick once your doing stuff.
Infotational imagry that is tasty for your brain.
COS sounds like it would be good for someone who just does media and the web, but it doesn't look like it'll carry on much more than that.
So, would I like to come live in Google's browser for the rest of my life?
NO.
I just don't see Flash becoming an internet application.
Don't be STOOPID!

No, because not everything revolves around video games.
Google might be good and all that. But I prefer to be in control of my data. I will keep my information out of the cloud thank you very much. I just dont trust them blindly like most people do.
Also the "cloud" paradigm is best suited for services not operating systems. I don't think it will be practical until everyone has free high-speed internet access and why would all the big ISPs want to give up their income?

Well I would like an OS which my wanting to play Empire Total War.
Pfft, to me, Chromium OS is a load of Bollocks. So what if everything stays signed in with Google, you can just get Firefox to save all your passwords. You can't play (barely) any good games on it, not to mention all the data collecting Google will do. Sure it looks pretty and all, but Windows 7 is prettier. Heck, Ubuntu is probably better than Chromium OS
.
sounds like the troll of the future has a new toy to play with...
Sounds like way to much work considering I all ready have an OS that usually works(Vista). As much as iI dislike windows I do feel they got it pretty much right in terms of usable consumer based product. Even thought I gave up IE for FireFox its not a big deal cause Firefox is jsut a more user friendly version of IE to me. And from what ive seen anything in Beta is never user friendly...specially considering you cant even run it off your computer...you gotta use an external device.
I've been playing with it today and kind of cool, but it would be cooler if it didn't freeze every 15 minutes (or to be more specific, slow down to the point it's unusable - memory leak?). Also, it won't run well on my desktop because they don't support nVidia cards yet.
how can they make an OS out of a metallic element?
