Need music for next film! $$$ 2009-12-07 21:30:55 Reply

Hello,

I'm going to start working on my next film soon, and I'm going to need some music.
Looking for something instrumental with a gradual build up, similar to "cells" by the servant,
or the clawhammer fight sequence music in the film "oldboy".

I am willing to pay between $25.00-$50.00 to use an original track.
Take a look at my film below & if you have a track you did that you feel would suit the films style
P.M. me!

Thanks,
- Celx

You're being a bit too specific about the genre you're looking for. Not everyone knows about that "oldboy" movie. You may get better results if you can put a link to these specific pieces or if you say what genre you're looking for.

Apart from that, that could interest me.

Uh, don't listen to this guy. You should always be as specific as you can possibly get. Nothing is more annoying when you write a song for a client who forgot to tell you that he really wanted to hear an acoustic guitar in it.

I completely disagree with this statement. 7 years of film education and I have yet to work on a project where the music came last. I think it's a matter of preference...

A custom score always comes last in Hollywood, as the directors usually use temp scores in the mean time. I pretty much insist on being last as well.

You're willing to buy/rent and watch a movie in hope that you can create something for $25-$50?

It's a good movie. So yes?

Or you could just...you know...go on youtube and look for it?

When is a custom track THAT low in price. Are you looking for non-exclusive rights to the music, or exclusive. Because exclusive rights for original custom music will cost you in the neighborhood of $500 - $2000 per MINUTE. Now that's just entry level too. Best thing is to use a song that is already posted on NG by one of the artists, as they are under the NG usage license. Also, are you going to be making a profit from your film? If you do, then there's also the thorny issue of royalties.

You better have a contract set in stone for this if MONEY is involved.

Hello everyone!

I found a great piece of music, and am currently working with the musician,
on syncing it to the fight scene... I will be making a front page post to announce who it is, once things have been finalized.

Thanks to everyone who responded,
All of you had really cool music, I just felt this particular track worked really well.

Sincerely,
- Celx

Now Why I have the feeling that is not really completely true ?... because I hear in your "Himalaya sunset" something that sounds like "Peter Siedlaczek" in the wind section. The oboe sounds very much like it...
