Assholes!? Take this morning for a start. I guy I knew for reasons kept to himself took my glasses and broke them and sprayed super glue on my left lenses. I was all like "What the fuck man!?" and he was all like "Your rich go buy another pair." Then he went to my house and actually threw rocks at my cats outside. No longer taking his shit I decided to kick his ass. The poor bastard was a shitty fighter so I got away with barely any scratches. Why are some people like this? What provokes people to be an asshole overall.

I was out having some breakfest when he came to "talk" to me and then grabbed my glasses from my face and ran out the door. He ran to his door, went in, and locked to the so I couldn't get in. I watched as he took the super glue and sprayed a jet of of over the lens. He then opened his window slightly and threw them at me.
Sorry for above I meant to say he went to his car door.

I think this is a pretty good explanation. Either that or the person is too immature and/or socially inept to be able to have empathy. This can either be because they've never really emotionally connected to suffering before (either because they have inadequate or skewed social interaction or because they have a mental disability that interferes with the person's ability to pick up social cues) or their brain hasn't developed enough to allow them to have the full capacity for empathy (because of physical immaturity or again, an inadequate or skewed history social experiences or mental disorder). I try to empathize with assholes, but I'm not able to. That is, I try to get myself to figure out what their reasoning was for their actions (on a deeper level than "this benefits me"), but I've never been able to fully do it. I can comprehend the reasons that a person would be driven to that sort of personality where they seem to be indifferent to the consequences of their actions (ie. what I said about and the reason that zalecot mentioned), but I can't connect with it. I suppose this is a good thing.
You shouldn't have beat the shit out of him. Just sued/took him to trial about your damages and bask in his money/incarceration. Then beat the shit out of him.

I had similiar experiances. I was at a bus stop reading a book when some latin-African American guy takes it and throws it in a sewer drain I was like "Hey man, what the fuck?" He had a smirk on his face and said "You rich, go buy another one white boy." I for one am not violent, but out of rage I gave him a hard jab to the face. His nose was bleeding, and he ran away spouting racial slurs and curse words while he was at it. Never saw him again.
That book was 30 fuckin' dollars.
I think we shall delve into the human mind. He had said "you're rich, go buy another pair" so this either means, he's just making an ass of himself for popularity, or the fact that deep down, he's actually a mistreated child with little to no money. Further more, you shouldn't have kicked his ass. you should've filed a lawsuit, or done something involving higher authority.

Yeah, they don't come cheap. I don't know why he'd pick on you, but what he did to you and your pets was horrible. One of my friends doesn't sit with me at lunch because we ran out of room at our table and all the kids pick on him at the other table. They take his bag and make him buy snacks for them and they call him gay and shit. It pisses me off. I wish I knew how to stop it.

Since the kid sounds like he's under eighteen might as well tell his parents. Provide the evidence and they will more than likely punish him in one way or another and force him to help pay for your new glasses since I don't know of any methods or ways to remove super glue of a glasses lenses without it damaging the lens permanently. Also if he does it again stand up for yourself. Sheesh, and to ruin a pair of expensive glasses, for shame on him.

I don't know. I haven't studied human behaviour like a professional. One guess would be problems at home. Parents who let their son or daughter do whatever they want may cause them to think they can do whatever they want wherever they want. Of course, everyone has different reasons.
