I use EDIROL Orchetra but for some reason, I don't get that surge I hear in real pianos. I want to do a depressing piano song but I am not good at tuning. What tuning would you suggest for a depressing song? (I.E A#, A, C# ect. . .)
And what is the best sounding Piano VST? (That I can torrent or get for free)

any key signature will work for depressing music as long is its minor
as far as a good piano vst, DSK Akoustic is free and its ok, but its probably not as good as edirol though
also, if you wan a more real feel to your pianos, play around with the velocity of some of the notes, its not perfect, but it does help

MK, that is what I thought.
Yeah, I use to use Akoustik but since I had EDIROL I don't need it. Plus it is very heavy on my CPU and RAM.
Thanks, I'll try!
I forgot what song I wanted to sound like. . . It was on top 5 songs but I forgot. It had the word NG Cut in it but. . . It had a very nice piano sound with some rain. Oh well...

This is the only way to add expressiveness to a piano track you didn't play. No piano player hits every note in a song with exactly the same velocity. Dynamics are a huge part of any instrumental music, so learning to fake up some of this expressiveness will really greatly improve your songs.

'Zactly. Also, I have four piano's I use, depending on what the sound wanted is. One is DSK Acoustik keyZ. Works nicely. FL Studio default piano. And in FL studio 9, I took the directwave piano's which are actually really nice recordings of a yamaha and a chang piano with velocities included, and put that file into my FL 8 folder. All four pianos have a different fell but work great.

A nice free piano plugin I found was CVPiano (http://www.kvraudio.com/get/2897.html), it really delivers on quality with a little bit of frequency trimming, considering it was free, for those who are, em, less inclined to...
well honestly steal things. Shame on you :P

Proteus X has a great sound bank called Studio Grand, and its nothing but a series of about 16 or 18 different sets of piano samples. One in particular that is my favorite is called Fullness. And you get that surge, sharp accents, and deep muffled tones of a real piano with it. I think my MIDI controller could use a bit more precision in the touch sensitivity department, but this VST has got to have the best piano I've ever heard.
Show some love.

This may be slightly off-topic, but there's a free soundfont called FluidR3 GM, which has some nice pianos. The bass notes below around G5 don't sound too good, but other than that, it's a pretty powerful piano (I used it in my submissions Not a Care in the World and Power of the Piano) and with some EQing you could really make it sound nice.
Lolz, I'm so noobish that I'm still using soundfonts XD.
