Isolating vocals from a song? 2009-12-01 00:46:27 Reply

I am attempting to extract the vocals from a clip of a movie that has a backing musical track, but am not really sure how to do it. I've found various tutorials on the net showing how to REMOVE vocals using Audacity and other such programs, but no actual tutorials on how to OBTAIN the vocals as opposed to actually eliminating them.

If anyone knows any techniques for doing so, please do enlighten me :)

The thread was still on the same page. ;-) Check my response here, as it's about pretty much the same anyway.

Either you need the background music without the vocals (to distract the vocals from the mixed track), or you can pretty much forget about it, sorry.

I don't see how that'd help him as he is trying to extract vocals from a movie clip.
If you are planning to ever use some a capella's though, make sure they're not copyrighted if you plan on submitting anything with them to NG.
