umm i dont fully understand. are you saing theres gona be a new nightmare on elm street? if thats what your saing then yes i would love that.
bro whe- TAKE COVER!
According to the imdb article it won't have Robert Englund, who was the original Freddy Krueger and therefore it will fail. Hard. People need to stop remaking horror movies.
I think that Hollywood should stop remaking classic movies into shittier versions and should cherish the older films for what they are and appreciate them.
I mean who the FUCK signed Michael Bay on to produce A Nightmare on Elm Street??? Every movie he touches turns to utter shit. This is just going to turn into another shitty movie that is marketed towards stupid teenagers who throw away their money to see movies when they don't even know what a good movie is. I think we should STOP remaking movies, and I think we should start making quality movies again.
And that's what I fucking think.
The person who plays Freddy is the guy who played Rorschach in Watchmen. At least he's got a voice for it.
If Robert Englund isn't apart of it I don't care. There is no point to remaking it. Robert is and always will be the one and only Freddy. The new gen remake can suck it.
Thread killer and proud of it :)
It will never reach its full potential without Robert Englund.
I'm gonna go back to my room and be awesome.

It will fail. Where are all the creative moive makers now?
I am not witty or clever enough to make my own sig, thus I have stolen one instead.
It looks amazing, from what little I've seen.
I mean, come on. Rorschach as Freddy? He's gonna kill it.
Looks alot better than the recent Friday the 13th, though that was more a reboot/remix of the series than a remake.
Life is a performance, and the world is full of critics. Give it your all like it's your last show.
You don't even want to know

I hate people who think movies suck based on critics. Fuck, if you haven't seen the movie and you think it sucks, fuck off. See it than judge. And Transformers was fucking amazing.

Yeah, but instead they got fucking Rorshach.

I'm not excited because I live on Elm Street.
Ehehehehehehehehehe...hehe...he.........
...
not really looking forward to it myself, just seems like nothing can live up to the original movie.

I always stick to the originals, remakes it always depends on how they present it and whether or not it has a decent plot to follow it up.
No. Just, no.
If Robert Englund isn't Freddy, then it's going to suck. I've seen pictures of that Jackie guy as Freddy and he looks absolutely terrible. If the director is looking to piss on the ashes of an already dead series (no matter how much I love it), then he's on the right track.
"It's a poor sort of memory that only works backward."
Booo.
They're trying to make Freddy Krueger a character that you can empathize with, and having rorshach play him... WTF.
Freddy should either be terrifying because he's a murdering CHILD RAPIST, or funny because he's a wisecracker that kills annoying teens. Not somewhere awkwardly placed in between.
Hollywood has truly run out of ideas because you're either seeing remakes or 29 sequels of a stupid franchise to begin with.
You haven't seen me, yet.
This info has been out for ages, surely people have heard?
It's a a remake of the first with a few additions and twists so to speak.
Jackie Earl Haley is playing Krueger, he's a terrific actor if you've seen 'Little Children'

Cool, another retard that assumes someone wasn't born in that generation when they themselves weren't.

With no age specified, it's easy to assume he wasn't born in that generation and has no rights to be claiming 'what was better' back then.
By the way, learn what the word pretentious means before you use it, dumbass.

I honestly wasn't expecting a response. Neato!
The general consensus around the net is that because it will not feature Englund (who cited his age as the reason for not being remotely interested in it) it is doomed to failure. Here are my thoughts on this...
The fact that Elm Street is being rebooted/remade only solidifies Krueger's place as a classic horror icon. Generations older than us were disgusted when Christopher Lee stepped into the role of Dracula, a role that Bela Lugosi defined to this very day; ironically, Max Schreck as Nosferatu was every bit as definitive, but no one seems to complain that Lugosi played such a drastically altered version of the Count. No one seemed to mind also when Lon Chaney Jr took up the role of Frankenstein's Monster. The fact is that Lugosi, Chaney, and Lee are still seen as being classics despite the fact that they were simply "rebooting" previous stories and franchises. Hell, even Karloff wasn't the first hulking abomination, nor was he the last.
People also seem to believe that the Elm Street series was God's gift to horror, often citing the first two or three films. Have these people forgotten how tongue-in-cheek and distinctly not-scary these films were after the first two? Freddy has always been a horror icon because he was funny, not because he was particularly scary. What this film is promising is more terror and fewer instances of slapstick and I'm okay with that.
As for Michael Bay... yeah, he's a hack director. This does not mean he's a failure as a producer though. The '03 and '06 Texas Chainsaw movies were every bit as entertaining as the first film and were actually pretty good. Friday 13th was disappointing, but let's face it, once you get through the original three films the originals were pretty awful also.
tl;dr
Give it a chance. This is only further solidifying Elm Street as a staple of the horror genre.

It was fucking awesome!!! My friend has it downloaded on his computer from a website that does stuff like that. So now I can watch it without having to pay $10.00 if I want to see it again
Its going to basically be the same as the recent 'Friday The 13th' they brought out. It wont have anything really different, they're just going to remake it like a new movie entirely, with the same villain, and a whole lot of sex scenes - whats horror without?
I feel it will be good, but it will just be another remake. I can't see it becoming amazing. But as I said, if you've seen the recent remake of 13th, then you know whats in store for you.
Just got back from seeing it. Was pretty damn good!!
