Who are your favorite videogame composers. If you don't know their names then just put the music title.

Mine is Daisuke Ishiwatari who does music for Arc Sytems' Guilty Gear and Blazblue series. Motoi Sakuraba, and lastly Masafumi Takada who is known for his work with Suda 51's No More Heroes and his rendition of Shin Onigashima.

Mine is Masato Nakamura, who composed the music for Sonic 1 and Sonic 2. Some of the songs that was played during the games were based off of songs he already performed as part of the J-pop band Dreams Come True. For example, the ending theme for Sonic 2 was based off of the song Sweet Dream, which was also arranged for Sonic 2006.

Nobuo Uematsu will show up several times I reckon, so I'll have to say Akira Yamaoka who is responsible for all of the Silent Hill series music and sound design.

I figured Uematsu would be brung up but that doesn't take away from his inspirational work, but I felt I should let someone who truly enjoys his work speak for him.

Shoji Meguro should definitely be on that list for making the epic songs in the first two Trauma Center games (TC1 and Second Opinion). Also Jun'ya Ota (ZUN) needs to be up there as well, for making titles such as this.

Something I've noticed: So far, all the people who have been posted are Japanese. What, are there no Westerners who can make good music?

Believe me there are good western composers but I just like the style of Japanese composition because sometimes it's either something totally different and strange (in a good way) or a derivative of our style with their own touch. It's just that western composition is heard everywhere and I like something a little different is all.

Not to mention Persona 3 and 4, those soundtracks are incredible.
Personally, I have a thing for Tomohito Nishiura, who composed the music for the dark Cloud series and Rogue Galaxy.

K%u014D %u014Ctani, for his work in Shadow of the Colossus.

As a side note he also composed the music for several Gamera films and Godzilla. Lot's of giant monsters...

TaQ

He did a lot of music for Beatmania IIDX. And his music is fun to listen to outside of the game as well, which isn't common for me.

Chris Hülsbeck, for his Turrican soundtracks. I actually never played the games but it sure looks fun and the music is awesome.

Besides Koji Kondo I'd say Kazumi Totaka for his remixes of the Mii channel and for creating the infamous " Totaka's Song"
