To be honest if it wasn't for the technology age that we live in, I'd almost out right oppose video games. When your on the internet, and on a console playing with other people, you don't really learn the necessary social skills to get through life. Without those skills, people may start to be anti social. Slowly effecting the offspring until we are left with obese, anti social kids that don't know how to talk to a women. There still hasn't been any study on the long term effects of video games. Or the effects of introducing kids to the level of violence, that we are at such an early game. I know I'd rather my kids read books than play video games!
Any thoughts or study links?

well, i'm sort of antisocial, but i also spend time with people who know the same things i play and we discuss these things. in a way, games pull us away from other people and stick us with other people who are more likely to understand us.

I have to completely disagree with this post due to its ignorant feel. I am sorry, but how can you completely oppose video games. Your argument about social skills are pretty much , and to all ends and purposes, ridiculous. To say that becuase of what the some people do in the leisure of their own home is rather dumb, and you may have said this due to bad expiriences which i dont care much for. Personally, i believe all people have a primitive instinct and that games gives us the means to release our curiosity iin a care free enviroment, but its just when people whos minds are still developing, kids as some would say, should not be given games, which adults would sqiurm at.

I said I almost oppose it. Why is the argument ignorant? I just had an opinion which I backed with resources and relevant links. I clearly stated I wasn't against video games. I used to be a gamer myself! Also when did I say that gamers in their leisure are dumb?

Uh yeah I do, its a very easy class to take. I'd recommend it. In the wiki article it states: "is often seen as". Where the definition on another site states: " unwilling or unable to associate in a normal or friendly way with other people." Source It seems to me the articles are very relevant to what I am saying. And since you took psychology you know exactly what one self or another person may think is right, may not be right, or wrong to others.
