I don't get the LoL/DOTA hype. I feel like i'm doing something wrong.

I certainly don't think it's for everyone but it's clear that the MOBA market is being cornered at every angle. LoL is the most popular one due to it being the first proper MOBA after everyone fell in love with the original dota mod on Warcraft 3. Dota 2 came soon after and featured a lot of the core mechanics of the original one but improved on a better engine. It's certainly a more refined and challenging experience. I won't go into the LoL/Dota bashing as it's really up to someone to make up their mind. Some people just don't like the complexity/difference in mechanics from LoL.

For me, it's knowing that I've played over 600 games and racked up 700 hours (just being in client) yet am still nowhere near 'good', have barely played with a good 20% of the hero pool and am nowhere near proficient enough with 90% of the heroes. Every game is different, every hero can be played with multiple strategies, you can fuck about, play try-hard, play with friends, become immersed in the professional scene etc. You suddenly realise that you're playing for at least 2 hours a day and whether you get frustrated or are having the best time of your life, you always go back to it.

Dota is love, dota is life.

Was Dishonored any good? Everything I heard was rather polarizing.

Was one of my favourite games of last year. Don't look too far into it for story or innovation but it's so much fucking fun. Definitely give it a go.

I'm mostly playing BF4 on PC. It's finally the game it should have been at launch and I've been enjoying it a lot, especially with Dragon's Teeth being a flawless map pack. Also finished Wolfenstein: TNO thanks to family sharing on Steam. Surprisingly good game, but it isn't without its boring sections. Finished Papers, Please as well and that was another awesome experience, which I should have given a second chance long ago. It starts off slow, but gets interesting about an hour in. And then there's Enemy Within. Honestly a little let down by the expansion, but it's got me back into XCOM so I can't complain too much.

I want to play BF4 so bad, but I want to experience on PC. I want my first time to be beautiful, not like i'm being deflowered in a grimy club. We had such bro times on Bad Company 2. It looks like we're all slowly migrating to PC, so when everyone's got their nice gaming PC's it'd be cool to relive the glory days.

If you craft enough badges and get to level 10 or something like that you can display an achievement box on your profile.

There is that, but i'm so limited in what the hell I can play since I can pretty much only play indies, which isn't so bad but I like to have a wide range. I'll probably care more when I have a decent PC.

Bloodborne, No Man's Sky earlier, TLOU, Uncharted, Binding of Isaac: Rebirth, Hotline Miami 2, and Destiny being a much better experience on PS4 are all reason I'm going with Sony right now. Seems like it's also a much faster console with better performance overall. Soon I'll have used both consoles a fair amount and I'll have a first hand opinion on both.

The PS4 just seems overall to be the better console. There are aspects of both I like, but exclusives and performance always win in my book.

At 7/28/14 01:32 PM, iMini wrote: Games with Gold this month are Motocross Madness and Dishonored. Which is kewl.

That is fucking cool. Due to what I can only determine as ADD I never seem to finish anything, so it's nice that i'll finally get to finish Dishonoured.

Also, the cool thing about being broke as fuck is that a year after stuff releases, you have a massive selection of games to play.

Sounds like a cult. How disturbing.

205g in 1.5 hours from Tekken Tag Tournament 2. This mothafucka is back.

Dishonored is a game I've wanted to play for a long time. I've only just finished Battleblock, haven't even started Charlie Murder, Street Fighter or Dust and only barely started Saints Row, Hitman, Sleeping Dogs, Dead Island and Lara Croft. Then there's Dead Space 3 on PS+ as well as whatever else I've built up on there.

It blows my mind that there's so many people consistently complaining about all these free games every month when this type of thing just didn't happen at all not that long ago. I'd never have to buy a game again if I weren't a complete twat with a stupid collecting "hobby".

We should play that some time, though I'll suck on PC. Which will feel horrible because I was a master at BF3 on the 360.

Yeah, I was really shit on PC for a while. About a month ago my KDR (if you consider that any indication of skill) was under 1.00, and now I'm up to about 1.18. I was at over 1.50 easily on console. Premium is well worth it by the way, I fucking love the new maps. Better than the default ones. And I'm down to play anytime.

Dishonored is one of my absolute favourite games. I use the username Whalepowered on shit now, which is a reference to Dishonored. That's how much I like it I guess. It's dope.

I never ended up playing with you guys, so it would be awesome to join you. Being Canadian might make the connection shit for me though.

I absolutely adored Dishonored that game was my jam, I lent it to a friend though so I haven't been able to go through and do the no kills playthrough.

If you've done that one, is is difficult?

Not very often you get to go up 3 spots in one week. Sierra just barely beat me out for #1 this week.

It's actually quite easy. Getting no alerts is the harder one. I've only done both in one of the DLCs and it's fun as hell doing a playthrough like that. One day I'll try the full game with no alerts and kills on PC.

This is sounding exactly like Deus Ex: Human Revolution and that's a good thing. Would recommend if anyone hasn't played it yet.

Bought Halo 4 and got a tidy 105g, tomorrow I'll finish it on Legendary, since I never finish Halo games on anything higher than Heroic for some reason.

Yep. Bought it on Steam/uPlay and still haven't got around to finishing it. What a disappointment...

Guys we totally just managed one update on a page for the first time in ages. This feels good, I feel like we're actually bothering to revive the thread and doing it successfully.

Speaking of Watch_Dogs, it comes free with my GTX 780 that I'm ordering today so I should have that on the weekend, though I imagine I'll just be playing a lot of Battlefield 4.

I've been interested in seeing what Watch_Dogs is like but I've heard mainly bad stuff from it, so I'm glad it's a freebie incase I find it sucks as much as everybody else.

I never let myself get hyped for it, because I knew this would happen.

Gonna marathon Halo 4 on Legendary, then Surf's Up. I want top whore by a disgusting margin.

It never even looked very good, I don't know where the hype came from. I only bought it cause I couldn't find anything else to play the week it came out and there was a good deal on GMG. A friend told me it was really good and I believed him.

Oh I'm not even remotely hyped for it. It'll be something I play when I don't feel like playing Battlefield 4, but that most likely won't happen for a long time.

God damn I can't wait to get my new PC stuff tomorrow. It feels bad though, I moved my 360 to the section below on my desk so I can put my PC above it, and move all my 360 games around the side of my desk, so I can't really see any of my 360 at all.

I feel like I've moved on, but I'll come back to it eventually.

Watch_Dogs is actually a bit fun to play once you start the second act and begin to unlock a good chunk of abilities, it feels very fluid and smooth to play as a result. Can still only play it in small chunks though, the same old repetitive side missions get boring really quickly which is a shame because it's the only thing holding it back from being a great game.

Provided I actually get my PC parts today I might give it a go later on, I have to say I'm looking forward to it but I'm not expecting it to be anything close to the masterpiece everybody made it out to be. I can't really be disappointed by this point.

I just need to play Battlefield 4 god dammit.

Every time I see gameplay of it I just long to play it. It was even worse when I first got to try it out on my friends PS4.

There's something about Battlefield that just sums up everything I could ever want in an FPS.

Yea, I spent way too much time playing BF3 on Xbox and I miss having a game like that to just boot up and start playing. I just generally miss online multiplayer. I'd say it must have been 2 years now since my XBL subscription ended and I was last regularly playing online. I've renewed it a couple times since to play GTA V online briefly but it's not the same.

When I get home from work I tend not to play games now because my only option is singleplayer games really, and I just cba starting any of them unless it's the weekend. I like the pick up and play nature of games like Battlefield, which is why I'm thinking about copying you and getting myself a PC to start playing it on.

I went through a few months of no XBL, there is something about Multiplayer which is so much more fun than Singleplayer when you're in that mood. And it's also incredibly rewarding.

When I get home from work I tend not to play games now because my only option is singleplayer games really, and I just cba starting any of them unless it's the weekend. I like the pick up and play nature of games like Battlefield, which is why I'm thinking about copying you and getting myself a PC to start playing it on.

I'd definitely say you should. You could start out with something relatively basic that might not handle modern games on much more than High settings, but spend £400-500 instead of £800-900, and then upgrade later on when you feel like it's necessary.

Though I've done pretty much the same thing twice and always ended up wishing that I'd just gone all out and bought a beast instead, which is what I finally decided to do now.

I'm off work today, so I reckon a chunk of my afternoon is going to be spent putting a list of parts together now. If I get a list together I'll dump it in that thread you made for opinions.

I'd recommend you do what I did, it takes a lot longer but it's worth it. Pick all the parts you want and then redecide over and over and over until you're absolutely certain. I must have changed the parts I wanted at least 5 times. And though 1 or 2 of them were actually my original choices, looking into what you do and don't need is the best thing to do for each piece.

I'd say watch a tutorial on how to set up a PC before you buy anything as well, just to see what it's like if you aren't already aware. It gave me a better insight on what to buy and what not to buy.

Watch reviews and benchmarks of each product you're buying as well. Unboxings are cool to for things like GPUs and Motherboards to see what you actually get in the box.

Just take your time really, there's no point rushing it because the longer you leave it, the better the choice you'll make and the more money you can save to put into it. But yeah, post any ideas you have in that thread.

I really like Watch Dogs based on what I have seen so far. And as it is a Ubisoft game, more uPlay actions and rewards for me.

Does anybody else ever feel really awkward when this happens.

I feel like we're some biker gang who have our own bar and some super-white nerdy dude just walked in and started trying to join the gang.

I'm feeling it now. I wanted a dramatic 1000+ though but this is nice.
