New monitor/TV showed up today. Now instead of running my 360 through VGA @ 1680 x 1050 I have the option of running it on VGA with my computer's speaker system at 1920 x 1080 (no option for 1920 x 1200 :( ) or through HDMI (with the TV's built in speakers or headphones) at 1080p.
I can't tell the difference yet, but I'm using HDMI for the moment just because it's what I plugged in last. HDMI 1080p is the same as 1920x1080 on VGA, but there's probably a minor difference in quality, so don't quote me on that. Only things that sucks is that I'm stuck with headphones or the sub par built in speakers. If I can get the sound to route through my computer's speaker system rather than the built in speakers I will start using HDMI out of convenience; an HDMI cable is a lot neater than a VGA cord.
This is kind of what everything looks like now on my computer. I'd take an actual picture of the set up but I can't seem to find the docking station/cables for my camera. Everything's still so new to me so I'm just waiting till later tonight after I force myself to study for some tests to give it a try with some actual games on my 360. The dashboard itself wasn't very impressive.
