Got 40g from the lolGhosts Onslaught DLC. What the fuck was I thinking when I ordered the Hardened edition of the game...

Anyway, just bought Payday 2 and Mortal Kombat from the XBL Ultimate Sale, so I should get a decent amount of gamerscore in the next week. I hope a decent amount have bought Driver: San Francisco from the sale, the online playlist I need to get the final achievement from was completely dead as of 5 months ago :_:

My computer broke so I've been absent but I played through Dishonored for the whole week and really enjoyed it. Imo thats how all stealth games should be, there's a shitload of options to take that aren't always obvious which I love.

I can see why people might berate it for being short, but it's only short if you blast through it intentionally. My first playthrough doing mainly stealth and exploring took me over 3 days of long sessions of playing. But playing it through without any stealth to get an achievement took me about 6-7 hours maximum. Just depends how you play.

I also started playing Dragon Age Origins yesterday which is also a lot of fun, I was never sure whether I would enjoy it though I hadn't even watched any gameplay or anything, but it's making me really want to play through the Mass Effect trilogy.

Oh and I played some GH WoR which kinda sucks like most guitar hero games but w/e it's more songs.

I have the Ultimate Edition of Dragon Age. Was really enjoying it then realised how massive the game felt and I eventually just lost interest. Been meaning to give it another shot got a long time but it's competing for my attention against so many other games I'd rather play instead.

Definitely preferred Mass Effect over Dragon Age. Only played the first 2 games though. Started the third but never got very far before I stopped playing it. Not because I disliked it, was just one of those occasions where I started playing something else and never went back to it. Happens a lot.

I just started a High Chaos playthrough, and I can see what you mean. What took me like 30 mins to an hour on the prison level, being careful to not be spotted, choking out guards when necessary, has been cut down to less than 10 minutes by pretty much playing as a panther, stealth-killing every guard in my way and standing my ground when spotted instead of reloading to an earlier save. It kinda makes me sad, really. I love my stealth games being slow paced and rewarding cautious thinking and smart planning, and instead I'm basically going Call of Duty Commando Pro with a Tac. Knife up in this bitch. Although the differences I'm finding between Low and High Chaos are pretty neat so far, like guards having different conversations and shit. That is pretty neat in itself. I like the little details that are put into video games.

Semi-related, I recently got glasses, so now I'm playing games using both of my eyes instead of going cyclops and only using one (otherwise shit would just be blurry/double using both eyes before). I think my driving in video games is worse with them on, if launching my character ~100 ft through the car windshield in GTA V by crashing into another car at around 50 mph is of any indication. Definitely gonna take some getting used to.

I loved that about Dishonored, there were so many small changes depending on what you did which I think is how it should be done, as quite a lot of games claim to offer this but it's never really very detailed.

The way Sam treats you was crazy different as well, and I even felt like I deserved how much he hated me on my high chaos playthrough, considering I butchered every single human I saw.

I just started playing Dishonored yesterday too, I owned it before when it was new but never completed it, so it's pretty much a new experience again. Lot's of fun.

I hear the new thief is "okay", but I'm a sucker for stealth games so I'll probably buy it when it's cheap enough.

I've been thinking about trying out a JRPG, can anyone recommend one? I've played a little bit of XIII and X (and Chrono Trigger but that's really old), but I'd like to see what all the fuss is about.

I often hear Tales of Valkyria(?) being mentioned, is that one good?

It's also widely regarded as one of the best. I have the DS version but never got around to playing it.

Tales of Vesperia, I assume. Unlike most traditional JRPGs, the Tales series doesn't use turn based combat. It took me a little while to get used to the combat system in Vesperia (it was my first Tales game) and I died a few times in early fights but once I understood what was going on, it wasn't so bad.

Other good JRPGs I've played on the Xbox 360 are Blue Dragon, Eternal Sonata and Lost Odyssey. Blue Dragon is a pretty good introductory JRPG, in my opinion. It's the game that got me back into the genre. Eternal Sonata is a really nice looking game and fun to play but I found it got kinda boring in the middle of the game. It also doesn't use a turn based combat system. Lost Odyssey was more of a mature game, so probably the one I'd recommend if you wanted something more serious. The previous 2 games I mentioned are a bit more light hearted. Tales of Vesperia would be my recommendation though.

If you want to start out with really well acclaimed JRPGs you're probably going to want to look at some of the older titles. PS1 had a ton of them. Final Fantasy VI, VII, VIII, IX, Breath of Fire III and IV, Grandia and Wild Arms to name some of the ones I have sitting behind me.

Admittedly, it's not a genre that everyone is going to enjoy. Games are typically pretty lengthy, story heavy and have a lot of combat encounters.

Best one I've played on the 360 was Lost Odyssey. It's by Mistwalker which is made up of most of the original FF developers from before the series turned to shit. I didn't finish it but I remember the combat being good and the soundtrack being completely amazing. The plot was really interesting too from what I remember, I only stopped playing because something new came out and grabbed my attention.

You're going to need a lot of time and patience for it though. It's four discs long and pretty slow paced. One of the most praised parts of the game is "A Thousand Years of Dreams" which is just a series of unlockable short stories about the immortal protagonist's past, which he reads to you with a static image in the background. Again, it'll take some patience and it's probably not the best introduction to JRPGs because of that but it is a rewarding experience.

Other JRPGs on the Xbox include Blue Dragon (also by mistwalker but more cartoonish), Nier (more action focused), Tales of Vesperia, Eternal Sonata and Resonance of Fate. I haven't played much/any of most of those but they're well received.

Final Fantasy XIII and it's sequels are really, really shitty. Just don't bother. 50 hours of running in a straight line punctuated by the most pointless and automatic combat in any RPG and endless cutscenes of annoying characters repeating the same lines while aimlessly going in circles to pad out the plot. Some people like it but it should be far from the first JRPG you go for.

Cthulhu Saves the World and Breath of Death VII are kinda like JRPGs in a gameplay style, I guess, so I heavily recommend both of those. Helps that they're indie games and are super cheap, too, and hilarious to boot. Since Final Fantasy VI is quite honestly my favorite game ever no exceptions, I have to suggest that one as well. Haven't really played through any of the other Final Fantasy games to say which one you should and shouldn't play, though.

I'm really enjoying Dragon Age Origins at the moment.

Not sure why it took me so long to get around to playing but I'm glad it hasn't really aged at all.

Really makes me want to play Mass Effect though.

Playing Mortal Kombat on 360 has made me hate this shitty controller's D-Pad even more. Still damn fun to play though, easily in my Top 10 Games list for the last generation, funny how the Vita version is the best version too lolololol

I've bought a Chromecast. Thank god, now I can finally watch stuff without having to use my loud-ass Xbox, while also pretty much destroying the remaining reason I would subscribe to Xbox Live Gold. I don't play enough to warrant an XBL subscription. I have mixed feelings about that.

I'm actually looking pretty forward to getting South Park: Stick of Truth, I hear it's a so-so RPG but that fans will like it, I'm all for that, I'm a huge fan and the recent Console Wars trilogy are episodes were some of the best ever made, in my opinion anyway. Also pretty excited for MGS:GZ, I hear it's only short, so I'm happy to sit and wait for it to drop in price. I'll probably buy it for PS4. I'm pretty happy to wait for both of these titles actually, haven't really been super hyped for anything since GTA V, but I'm sure there are a few titles that I'm looking forward to.

Just bought and downloaded "South Park: Stick of Truth" last night, and I love it.

Yeah what's that like? I never really had any interest in south park games but I've heard this one has a lot more to it.

I'm not someone who's ever watched much South Park, but that game did kind of interest me. Although I've been put off paying full price for it because I gather that people are pretty much able to 100% complete it in about 12 hours. Not that a game being short bothers me, but I'd expect more hours out of a full prices RPG.

Also, there have been some cool South Park games. Well, I say "some" but I only have one as an example: South Park Rally. Granted, I haven't played it since the PS1 days but I remember having fun with that game. Now I'm getting all them nostalgia feels.

Okay I beat it and finished Dragon Age. My first playthrough at least.

I've start another one as a mage now and it's insane how much choice their is throughout. I literally did things that little bit different at the start and it's like playing a whole new game.

I find it hard to believe how much content this game has but I'm very happy to have gotten into it.

I imagine this whole year will be filled up with mainly Bioware games, seeing as they take me so long to get through.

So far I think I've managed to avoid that completely.

It was off once because of Rock Band 3 but only for a few days. It wasn't a fun experience.

Without a 5 or a 0 it just looks wrong.

If you like South Park, you'll love it. If you don't, you'll still like it. It plays out just like a South Park movie/show and it isn't afraid to touch all kind of areas of controversy. It's all around pretty funny, but I don't think there isn't any specific moments of hilarity.

There is plenty of content, and if you spend your time trying to attain all the achievements (like myself) it will take you quite some time to beat the game. The battle system might remind you of Paper Mario, or Final Fantasy. There are a number of side quests, collectables, and ways to customize your character. Given what I know of the show, and how the game is structured I would say there will definitely be DLC.

TL;DR: It's arguably short, but fun and comedic. The current price is a little high, but if you like the show you'll love the game.

Bought Ghost Recon Future Solider. I enjoyed it the first time round so I thought I'd give it a go, trying to play rather cautiously as I find that's the most rewarding gameplay style, but it's definetely always trying to get me into guns blazing fire fights, and sometimes I don't want to do that :(

Are the Advanced Warfighter games still worth playing? They're dead cheap now and I do lurv me some tactical thinking when it comes to my games.

I've only played GRAW1 once, so I can't comment on that. GRAW2 on the other hand is still a joy to play, the campaign is one of my favourite campaigns ever, really rewarding to playthrough and beat on Realistic as some chapters can be super tough. Online is dead though sadly. Chances are it'll feel horrible and clunky to control after playing Future Soldier, but you'll quickly adapt to it, so yeah, definitely worth picking up.

I never got around to playing either but I really enjoyed Future Soldier. I may get back to playing it as I've been more accepting of older (sort of) games recently.

I'm still on Dragon Age Origins at the moment, on my second playthrough and I just can't get over how much more there is to the game than I encountered on my first run through, it's brilliantly done.

I'm looking forward to playing Dragon Age II when I get a chance, though I hear it was rushed and had a crappy ending, however I get the impression I'll love it all the same.

After that it's going to be all Mass Effect.

I loved Mass Effect 2, started ME3 but something felt really off about the gameplay for some reason and never finished it. The first game is the best elevator simulator I've ever played, loved it so much I immediately returned it to a friend who let me borrow it, waited 4 days for Fallout 3 to arrive and played that for 6 months straight instead!

Oh and I might be getting another drum pedal in about 2-3 weeks, so perhaps I can get back to RB3 pro drums again! It's been ages since we last played it together D:
