Hey guys!
Someone I know is having recording problems. When he records, it does not just record his microphone, but also what sound is playing on his computer. Usually the setting needs to be changed to record one or the other, but this is doing it to both and he wants to know how to just record one.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

uhh, there could very well be a few things going wrong. You post was kind of vague, you should at the very least state which recording program he is using. Also, is he using an external Microphone? Is he using headphones? I'm not claiming that i would know exactly what's going wrong, but, we would most definitely need more info on what kind of settings are being used. Good Luck!

He is using Ventrilo (it is like a chatroom program). I don't think it is the programs settings, but his computer settings. However, I could be wrong and that's why I am asking here.

Is it a laptop? Because it could be recording from the built in mic, which explains why its picking everything on the computer up. He may have to go into the audio settings under hardware and sound, than go to manage audio devices and switch it from microphone array to whatever microphone is plugged in. This is assuming that your not using a macintosh, because i have no idea when it comes to apples.

That's ok. Thanks for trying!
And no, he's using a desktop and external microphone.

Is he just using a microphone plugged into the mic jack on his sound hardware?
What OS is he running?
What exactly is he trying to do? You say 'recording', but vent is a VOIP program.

I had this problem once.
For me the problem was through my Realtek HD Audio Manager.
Try muting or switching off the stereo mix volume. (I think thats what it was)
