Blamed:Saved - Thoughts!?

The ratio of blammed flashes to saved flashed in a day is usually about 2:5 which means there are always many more saved flashes then their are blammed flashes.
This makes it harder for people to get blams and alot more submissions that probably shouldn't pass do. So basically Newgrounds be a bit harsher or something needs to be done about the groups who vote pointless spam submissions higher so they pass. umm... thoughts??

Also do you think this Edge Wraith is pretty?

I think people still tend to vote save on most new entries, always easy b/p points. And opinions cant really change another 199 votes against you.

I think saving a flash that you don't like is a cop-out stat whore manuever. Every submission I click on in the portal, I will view, and vote honestly based on Pico's expressions. If it really does make poop look good, or if it would really make me happy if it were blammed, I vote accordingly. Nothing too new or interesting or "not bad?" Sometimes I agree.

Most of the time, spam is a video that's been fileswapped from the original. It's pretty annoying to watch a flash you voted 5 on, only to see it's been replaced by shit.

I think it's because the quality of movies and games have been getting better since way back when. Back then, most didn't know how to put a preloaders in their movies, so there were hundreds of "Right click to Play" and of them, most were just generally garbage. Also it should be noted that Flash has improved since the days of Flash 5 and Flash Mx; a novice artist and programmer can do so much more and has tons of resources to do whatever he/she wants.

Sure, bad movies get through but those were circumvented by file-swapping or the artist has so much spam that people have become indifferent to them. To be honest it really isn't that hard to get a 1.60 score to pass judgment when you think about it. Just ignore them and move on and enjoy the quality works.

Also it seems a lot of companies and studios have realised the importance of the NG community, so there are often a lot of movies which will automatically be saved, because they are of good quality.

And as Reverend has said, Flash has come a long way in a short time, but so have the artists/authors.

If you can imagine how revolutionary Pico's school was back in the day, imagine what's capable with today's versions of flash.

And with the Release of CS5 and even more companies submitting, I'd say that blam:save ratio is going to only increase.

The quality content gets the attention it deserves, and unless you bring this type of shit up, the crappy content is forgotten.

Meh, the ratio used to be quite different. It doesn't necessarily indicate that the level of scrutiny has dropped, it's more likely that as top flashes and daily top 5 submissions become better and better quality, the threshold for voluntary submission goes up.

There's still crappy flash being submitted, but nothing compared to what it was like 5 or 6 years ago, for example.

Just Vote properly. For example, Vote on the quality of the flash and not on whether you think it will pass judgement or not. If its crap Vote 0 or 1, not vote 2,3,4 or 5 because you think it will probably pass judgement. Too many voters care about the saves, but if everyone voted not for the stats but on the actual quality, then Newgrounds could return to its glory days of old. Also, always check what the authors previous submissions are, this generally will give you an idea if they are spammers or not.

I have noticed that as well and I think the reason may be because people are simply learning how to work on flash better. They know things can be blammed and it's against the rules to submit something with the intention of having it blammed anyway. At least both blams and saves give you rank on this website.

The portal is about anyone being able to submit anything they want (while staying within reason), not about you being able to accumulate more useless stats while contributing nothing back to the site.
