Hey, another idea, instead of just selling t-shirts, it'd be cool to sell "The Best of Newgrounds" or "Newgrounds: Greatest Hits Vol. I" video. THAT WOULD BE TOTALLY AWESOME! And you could sell a NG Games CD. There's another source of revenue...

Hmmm, I have an idea and a few contacts within two or three large companies. Don't get any hopes up, though. I'll see what I can do about finding a good sponsor.

damn, man. i didn't realize that things were so hard. for a site as popular though non-mainstream as newgrounds, i thought it would be much easier to get decent advertisement. anyhow, i will continue to support newgrounds in anyway i can and if that comes down to paying a couple bucks a month, so be it. this site is great and i'm a firm believer in it.

Something, I feel, that is annoying as well are people who resubmit movies who constantly voted off. Not to name any names but Sideshow_Mel does it all the time with his "*Name of some kiddy show* Dies" series. I think something needs to be done to stop people like that from taking up valuable space, like ban or make sure he can't resubmit the same thing. If only it were that easy to do to stupid people in the real world . . .

Not that it's on topic but SOBE was actually bought by Pepsi and gatorade will also be pepsi product soon. Though SOBE still does their own shit(advertising etc...) pepsi just distributes them and owns the stock. either way, I'm still a slave worker for pepsi and/or SOBE. I just wanna say congrats to Wade. I also wanna say thanks to Tom. Newgrounds is the greatest site on the net. You fight for us. Not for the money. If you wanted money you could have may Newgrounds pay to post/view a long time ago. I just think it's really cool that you guys have let us view free content and have a place to post our shit (good and bad). If I had a company (or a website for that matter) I would definetly sponsor Newgrounds. As commercial design and art student I can't see why sponsors aren't jumping on this site for ads. I spend about 2 hours on average at Newgrounds daily. My girlfriend (who nickname is Caty Catholic) spends hours on Newgrounds too. Anyway thanks for not selling out.

How hard have you tried to entice companies to sponsor Newgrounds? If I were a 30+ year old running an ad campaign for my company here's a few reasons why I wouldn't choose Newgrounds.

1. I couldn't find info about advertising on Newgrounds, such as how many unique visitors you get and the amount of time they spend on here. You need to create a seperate "corporate" page that shows Newgrounds is a serious business and it's not just about killing celebrities.

2. Newgrounds looks too dark and offensive, something that a teenager created and not a real "business" run by professionals. Granted, Newgrounds isn't suppose to be all happy and positive, but you've got to admit it doesn't look professionally done, polished if you will. You've got to protect their image.

Basically Newgounds has to look more like a business than one guys hobby. Just imagine a marketing director coming to Newgrounds and seeing on the front page a post about Dead Babies and how the creator destroyed a little kids sand castle and then broke her arm. Gee, sounds like a site I want to sponsor.

I'm not saying Newgrounds has to become more family like, but in order to entice big money you've got to appear that way. Perhaps the homepage could be toned down a bit and include a page containing info regarding how successful Newgrounds is, how the money for one commerical could be spent here for a whole month, etc. There isn't one bit of information on Newgrounds that makes me want to sponsor it. If there is it isn't easy to locate.

By the way, I'm still waiting for the updated Pico pics.

I know all the problems associated with doing something like this but it really is a good idea. The artists here seem pretty cool about their content. Bottom Line; If you guys can make it happen I'll buy it. Come out with a new CD every month or 2 with different content on it than the last one. Or have themes like "Newgrounds X voted" for deleted movies that we can't see here anymore. Maybe even put some exclusive (not viewable on the Net) content on them to sweeten the deal. That would be cool.

K tom, i have some ideas for sponsors but who knows if they would do it, first off, i'd see companies like mad magazine, and stuff. Spencer's Gifts was also a good suggestion from someone. I think they're owned be warner brothers though. Playboy and comedy central are good ideas. I also think new t-shirts would sell big. A shirt with pico or other more popular characters. An assassin/pico team up shot would be sweet! lol

Someone DOES sponsor you... in a way. Gameshark.com is having contest to win a PS2, etc. In the WEEK IN REVIEW section, you have to click the right button on the Flash news to be entered in the contest. To my suprise, NEWGROUNDS was actually one of the pop-ups for it. It lead to a portal submission (my guess, it's someone's movie, and it didn't give the details of the person, voting, etc on it like usually it does.) But, people do know about you. Just think... big companies like Interact (gameshark) know.

I would like to say GET RID OF THE POP UPS, they come up all the time and it's never ending, it's ridiculous, you really aren't thinking of people who come to the website to watch flash movies, they get interrupted throughout it. No one is winning through this. And regards to what unrealrapist wrote, I agree, you won't have many fans left if this continues.

I agree with Rezin, big companies aren't going to take Newgrounds seriously. You should create a whole new site focussing on the corporate side of NG. It would be like NG's alter-ego. Personally, the ads didn't bother me that much.

They are still Auto-refreshing on the front page, in the portal when you view a movie & when you write posts.

I got an auto-refreshing ad 4 times just writing this reply & that was without clicking anything or refreshing.

Onto the whole advertising deal, If having the popups means keeping Newgrounds online, then bring them on. I like the train of thinking presented by Masaru, and Cthulhu5, But I'm going all out. It may be hard work, but think of the benefits in the end. And all you people saying that Newgrounds will be losing fans if the popups aren't taken off, you shouldn't consider yourselves fans in the first place. True fans should put up with a lot more than some popup's before they give up.

I will try to get the pop-ups cut back today, so you won't have to swim through them to use the site. In the meantime, try to support us some by supporting our stupid sponsors! Remember that giant Casino ad that was on the frontpage for a few weeks? They had a really complicated three-step process that had to be completed for us to get our comission. You had to not only sign up and validate your account, but you ALSO had to desposit $50 in your Casino account. So even if we sent them 1000s of registered users, it still hinged upon that $50. Guess what? It generated ZERO "complete" sign-ups . Nada, zip. We didn't get a dime for having that obnoxious ad plastered on the frontpage for all that time. Can you understand why I am in such a pissy mood?

This is so fucking lame... Studies are proving that banner ads actually do increase brand awareness, and we are still getting ass-raped every which way. Why can't a decent company step forward and sponsor Newgrounds? For the cost of one television commercial per month we could ditch all the other advertisers and keep the site running fine. Is anyone willing to step up and do that? Does anyone out there work for "cool" companies, like KMX or RED BULL energy drinks? SOBE Beverages was interested in a sponsorship a while back, but they were bought by COKE and suddenly that wasn't a good idea for them. Well guess what, COKE better learn where its market is - it is right here on the web!

Other studies are proving that TV use is declining in exchange for internet use. Don't companies see any value in that? The average user spends over 20 minutes on Newgrounds, and we get over 100,000 users every day. We are more popular than some TV shows, but we are still getting shit on.

Here is a homework assignmnent. If you work for a company that has ANY INTEREST AT ALL in the Gen-Y / Gen-X market, talk to your friends in the marketing department about Newgrounds. Tell them how for just a small piece of their advertising budget, they could be the sole sponsor of this site. Convince them, because they have their heads up their asses and they aren't listening! Newgrounds is a lifestyle for some people - you can't say that about FRIENDS and the other crap they are putting on TV! Ok, maybe Simpsons, but that's it!
