reaally?
that is not a hidden gem,
its been around for years and i even.....god forget it..
Isnt there suposed to be a time limit on the animations we find?
<frowns>
Okay...
A- There is, in fact, no time limit on submissions. One of last year's winners, Mug Hug was THREE years old at the time of the 2008 NG Gem Competition.
B- It was released on 07/19/2007. that makes is approximately two years and 4 months old. That's not especially old. Certainly not as old as Mug Hug was in 2008.
C- There are plenty of flashes that have become finalists this year alone that are 2 years or older.
D- I don't see how anyone can not consider this a gem. It's has only a few thousand views, no awards and was not made by a famous NG animator. That's not to say the author hasn't made some quality stuff (he has) but none if it has broken above even 50k views and the last time he submitted something was over a year ago.
and
D- One of your own gem submissions -Swing Among The Stars Ep1- was submitted on 10/09/2007, or approximately two years and one month ago. Only 3 months "younger" then my pick. <cough>Pot calling kettle black. <cough>
In short, this is a great flash, made by a talented author that deserves more attention and I firmly stand by my decision to enter this as a gem and am pleased Tom has seen fit to add it to one of the finalist categories.
I rather suspect that you just don't like this animation , which is fine, it's a controversial topic but don't pretend that you are upset because it's too old or not a gem. I actually liked "Bang" better then any of the other entries but since I submitted it, my vote wouldn't count anyway. I'll just talk it up a bit instead.

Really different. Author's flatmate turned a class lecture on God, that he recorded, into a short rap. The author made the animation after hearing the rap.
This is completely original, well animated and has a good beat to it. I tend to enjoy replaying music videos more then any other genre. Plus, it's a thought provoking argument that was stylishly done. I really enjoy listening to it and would ask to consider it when voting for your favorite nerdy submission. :)
Collecting NG's undiscovered gems has been a hobby of mine since 2005. I am curently posting them on my blog.
Feel free to check them out and tell me what you think.
I shall vote for http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/48 9596

math debate is great
blordow is great
I loved "Jim Learn Mathematization." It was done so well, the distortion of the voice, the music, the film degradation effects. was a perfect parody of 50's educational films.
In the Dirty section I liked "M. Barat est fatique." they where all creepy and weird. But that one has the most interesting style, and most actual meaning to it, other then being for shock value.
For dirty. Again, it is best explained in my review on the submission.

Animation/Graphics - Very superior graphics and animation here man. Very smooth all around and very well drawn. Probably the best animated flash that I have seen today so far. I may just have to visit some of your other flashes if they are drawn this well.
Story/Concept - Wow, didn't see that coming at all. That usually deserves a 10/10 on it's own for complete originality, but the fact that it was so funny I knew it couldn't be any less than a 10/10 from me. You had great originality, humor, and a great surprise factor. I just thought he was going to talk about getting a boner or something like that.
Audio - Good voice acting, good sound effects, good music, etc... Nothing wrong with the audio at all.
Who are you callin' a nerd, Tom?

It's Jazzy, it's clever, and it was one of my favorites of his collection. It does serve a very logical perspective. "Out of Nothing - Nothing Comes". It's not entirely a Christian Perspective per say. But a logical statement to how the world was not created. Something had to have been there when it all happened.

Afflicting childhood memories have always been something to laugh about.
The fact that we should laugh about our childhood memories - even the bad ones - is a sign of a good an optimistic attitude that will only benefit your sense of well being even further.
Anyone who feels anxious about such 'ahem' childhood feelings should watch this cartoon....and get a good laugh at it and their own lives.
Here's my favourite Nerdy Animations:

1. Math is a very unique. It was short and pretty boring, but at the same time original and exciting to see what numbers each character is made out of. Definitely the nerdiest flash out here.

2. Jim Learn Mathematization is stylish in many ways. It's serious tone in both animation and voiceacting completely contradicts the unrealistic plot. I couldn't help but burst out in laughter a few times. It's not all that nerdy but it sure deserves to be known.

3. Bang!!! is quite clever. This cartoon drags science down to the same level as religion. Religious people can't proof how God created everything, but then again, the cause of the Big Bang hasn't been proven yet either. This flash makes it seem like they're both (in)correct, which I think is kind of interesting. Great animation with a nice funky song to keep it humorous.
All of the dirty animations are just perverted and disgusting! (although "joes haloween movie" was kind of addictive to watch)
