This is pretty straightforward. I'm over 20,000 words into a steampunk novel for National Novel Writing Month with a little less than 30,000 words to go. I've got most of the main charcters fleshed out, however, there's still a lot of room to cover, over which there'll be a handful more minor characters introduced to the plot.
When I say "be a minor character in my novel" I don't mean "and then Tom Fulp walked up to Joe Jonas and punched him in the face. MegaMan223344 laughed." I mean that I'll use your first name. But this is based on a few conditions:
That I haven't used the name in the story before.
That I haven't used a similar sounding name in your story.
That your name sounds interesting.
That your name fits with the style of the story.
It's very subjective really. I have to like your name. There's probably some bonus points if I know you and I like you. For instance, Lachie has made an appearence in my novel, because his name fit my criteria. Of course, he didn't ask and I didn't ask, it was just a name that I thought of and that stuck.
Now, before you go calling me lazy for not thinking of my own names, I'll just remind you that I've already got 24 character names in my story, in addition to place and object names. And the fact that I'ver written over 20,000 words in 15 days. I just thought we could have a bit of fun with it.
Please note that if I choose your name, the ownership and usage of your name in my story is mine, and the chances are that the character will act nothing like yourself. So if you'd like to see your first name used in my novel then just post it here. I'll let you know which names I use, and maybe a bit of character description if I've thought that far ahead.
Here's the link to what I've written so far, to whomever's interested.
