Seriously, I don't get the hype and all that shit about the game. I mean, just another COD game. Anyways, I think that Halo was always the better game and I never remember waiting in a long line in Gamestop to reserve Halo 3.

If I remember correctly, wasn't that game's release date the biggest in not only gaming, but in all forms of digital enterainment, period? I distinctly remember several classmates skipping school to buy it.

I personally thought that it was the most overrated thing since Halo 2(which, to me, previously held the title of "Most overrated thing of all time"), and only got it for when I had parties, because it seems to be the only game most of my friends are interested in playing multiplayer. It admittedly does have a nice multiplayer.

Anyway, as far as the first-person shooters I've played go, this is how I rank them:

Half-Life/Half-Life: Opposing Force>Dukem Nukem 3D/Advance>Wolfenstein 3D>Call of Duty games>Half-Life 2/Half-Life: Blue Shift>Halo games.

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare was one of the best First-Person Shooters I have ever played alongside Halo 2, Goldeneye 007, and Unreal Tournament III.

When Halo 3 came out it didn't look like anything special, same with Halo 3: ODST. We now have Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

I have not yet played it, but hopefully it won't be a letdown like Halo 3 was.

Halo has an awesome plot too. Also, why don't you think a super soldier that is not only naturally strong, but genetically strong from projects such as the Spartan II and III? Seriously, the plot is complex, so many people won't get what's happening. But it truly is amazing and I'm sure you would agree if you do some research.

well i have no problem with genetically enhanced soldiers but when you're a fucking tank and can just run straight into a fight and one shot everything it kinda kills it for me. there wasnt that much development in the game, MC doesnt show any emotion and doesnt really interact with anyone. the plot was good but it wasnt completely amazing or anything. Halo didnt really revolutionize FPS games, i've heard so many people say this, there were already awesome FPS before halo.

Many games are overrated, and MW2 is no exception. I am NOT saying it is a bad game, but it is probably going to suffer from "Halo Syndrome". This is when a game becomes overrated due to the success of its predecessor. Often the game is good in its own right anyways.

both series has its ups and downs. Personally, i think cod has too many "near death" situations. To a normal marine, surviving one is a stroke of luck. But, halo isnt toooo realalistic. Notice how the war started because the covenant were too religious, and wanted to please the forerunners who apparently thought humanity wasnt worthy. But if they actually looked into it, they would find out that the forerunners WERE humans. Done.

oh, by the way, xbox 360 can pwn PS3 any day, just to throw that out there.

I've never played the original, and I'm usually never too crazy about sequels, so I really don't care. I've only played Call of Duty 2. Everyone wants me to buy it for Nazi Zombies or something like that. I think it's a little soon for a sequel, just like Left 4 Dead.

I've heard a decent people call the MGS series overrated, actually. But in the case of both Legend of Zelda and MGS, a big plus is the amount of variety in the gameplay itself. Each of the LoZ games brings something new and revlutionary to the table(however, I do have one big problem with the post-Link's Awakening titles: they're impossible to me unless I'm constantly looking at a walkthrough). In the case of MGS, ignoring the fact that it pretty much created the stealth genre, there's a good deal of strategy involved in the gameplay, which requires you to think. All you do in the Halo games in run in, guns blazing, kill everything, and repeat for the rest of the game. The sequels are exactly the same(gameplay-wise) with just better graphics and a few new weapons. This wouldn't be so bad, as there are other great series that do this(Mega Man), but then hordes of people go and eat this shit up like it's an entirely different game.
