since Flash 5

Everytime I get pleased, they change everything.

when I started it was strictly visual. Now it's more codeish. Flash 5 was pretty limited compared to what CS4 can do.
I got Flash about 6 years ago, and I don't think I've come a particularly long way with it. I use it for the basics of animation, and continue to use it for the same purpose every day. I'm not really too interested in scripting, so I haven't really learned it outside of the basics needed for my animations.
I have gotten more efficient in using it for my simple means, and better at the animation aspect in general.
I've been using flash for 4 year or so. I started when I was studying cinema, discoverd newground and wanted to make animations because I alway had problem finding other people to work with and implemanting ideas that would require special fx or locations. At that time I was spending every week-end at the arcade playing DDR and guitar freak so my first project was to make a flash version of Guitar Freak, holding the keyboard like a guitar. So a friend sold me his copy of flash 8. I figured it would be a nice way to learn how to animate stuff and use actionscript. Bought a book on flash and spent countless hours reading tutorials. Until today I made 7 uncomplete version of the game because I would alway come to the conclusion that I became better and could do something better. Plus, the version of flash was registered to my friend name and I did not wanted to get into trouble by publishing stuff on the net.
Also because I never really got to be good at animating and designing I decided to focus on coding (wich I viewed as a fun IQ chalenge). Since I was studying I never got to spend as much time really working on a project (even less a team project) until last year when I got my first full time job as a flash programer/animator for a e-learning center who happen to be publishing a serie of book on Game Design (the career I eventually want to land). With the money I bought my own version of flash cs3. At that moment my skills really improved dramatically (working 40h a week with something usually have this effect) and for the first time I had somedoby to speak directly when I didn't understood something. Also, I was now force to work with loops and arrays, something I was avoiding because I did not fully understood them before. The only thing I regret was not having my flash8 actionscript bible book when I started. Now I don't have a job because my girlfriend and I moved to another province (she got accepted in an University) and I had to leave my old one to come along, but everyday I work on some games (either coding or writin design documents). By the end of november I should have two games published.
I have only just recently came back to flash, I can't remember why but I got really annoyed at it and gave up last year, But I hope to stick at it this time
had flash for like sixdays how do u do motion tween?
what
2000-2002ish, flash 5 was a bitch, but I kinda liked how lame AS1 was. Makes me a bit sentimental thinking about it :)
I've come along quite a bit, my very first 'game' was a button flashing up for 1 frame and having to click it in that split second, to "test your reactions", but in the end it was just pants. Now I'm making physics engines and properly advanced stuff, which is nice.
I had it for about 4 years now, I got it Christmas 2005, and sent in my flash in 2006. I played around with the demo before hand though and failed miserably with claymation
I am pleased with my progress, but I think I could of done better on certain parts.
I was interested in both, I tried a game first and then an animation just to get something in the portal.
I just want to know how long have people around here been using flash ?
I have had flash 8 for about a year and a have and happy with it but may want to upgrade to cs3
ALSO are you pleased with your progress in respect to time youve had it or do you think that you
could have done much much better ?
Nah, I like flash 8 alot, and plan to stick with it or go to cs3
What where you interested in when you got it , programming or animation , what are you prominent in at the moment ?
It was animation at first, then I got all interested in actionscript and became a game making hog. That's how I got mah name.
i have had it for about four years. i am pretty pleased with my progress, going from thinking scenes were keyframes to animating in FBF. I think that if I had actually payed more attention to my books, I would have figured out how to code already.
I was originally interested in animation, as I am now, but I am leaning more towards wanting to do actionscript now.
The Problems of the Future, by Everyone!
I started with Flash 4, 4 years ago, I made some small animations, FBF and later tweening.
I dropped it for about one and a half year, until my dad bought Studio 8. Thats when I started programming, about 2 years ago. I'm absolutely not looking forwards to CS5..... Adobe with their createEntireGame(gameType:any); function.......
Anyway, I still love programming, solve problems, get awesome results........ Its gonna be my job for sure.
Vexagon is dead. This is VanVeenGames!
I'd say around 2 years. I stopped using Flash altogether for a long time and had to re-learn most of the stuff.
Started with AS2, made "tests", banners and small apps for myself all the time. A couple months ago I decided to move on to AS3 and I've stuck with it ever since. I've recently started to focus more on Flash and I've done a few jobs already and made some good money.
I'm not too satisfied with my progress, I've lost valuable time. Plus it's always good to push yourself. But yeah, I'm doing much more complex stuff than before. I'm trying to completely understand OOP, still having some trouble with the organization aspect mostly.

Flash 8: 2-3 months or so
LiveSwif: many months
Flash CS3: only a few days
ALSO are you pleased with your progress in respect to time youve had it or do you think that you could have done much much better ?
Yes, I'm improving (or trying to, at least)

Programming, and I make games the best.

Both. Animation right now, programming a while ago.

I dont know, i made two about flex/flixel because i wanted to do some serious coding then bumped my old website one because i made improvements then made this out of interest, i hardly ever make so many threads in such a small timeframe but hey at least they werent all about the same thing :]

I didn't notice the new sig. It's alot better than the old one but I would make it a bit smaller.

Careful, I think listing how many times you've been banned in your signature is against the rules. I don't remember where I read that, but I'll say it just in case.
Anyways, I've had Flash since Flash 8, but have been using it since Flash 5. Before I got flash I was animating in MovieMaker with MS Paint, and PowerPoint. That, and the corner of every school textbook, haha.

Four years or so, but I've only posted a few flashes in my early few years, for the rest I've only made small movies which I then threw away.
I deem myself unworthy of putting it on the web.
