So I drove in to town today to buy some manly junk food to eat while I play MW2. I got what I wanted and walked back to the car.

I didn't unlock the car, I just popped open the boot (trunk) with my keys, threw the food in to the boot of the car, went to slam the boot shut and during mid slammage I saw my keys resting on a bag of shopping. I was like "OH SHIT" and my keys were like "lawlz, u fool". So yeah, I got locked out my car. I couldn't just open the boot because the fucking button to open it is on the keys.

In the end, I had to call AA services and they came and broke in to my car for me. I'd also forgotten to wear a jacket, so I had to wait in the cold.

So yes, I'm an idiot. However, has this happened to anyone else on NG?

You should try unlocking it?

You should have taken your shirt off, wrapped it around your hand and punched the window out. It wouldn't solve your lack of keys, but hey...whatever.

I drive a mini, which uses an electronic key. As long as the keys are within 5 feet of the car I can open it with a button on the handles, even if they're locked inside :P

This makes me think of Family Guy when Peter got locked inside of his car.

What if you're stuck at a red light and someone tries to force their way in knowing this?

I was actually thinking that as I waited in the cold. Might put it on my Christmas wish list.

Also, I only had to wait 26 minutes for the AA to arrive. However, people kept staring at him because it looked like I was trying to break in to somebody's car.

Do you by chance live on your own? I've ben locked out of my car a few times, but I've never had to call anyone but members of my own family, as I live with them. I guess it's a nice way to live with your family. Although the independence in older age probably rules it out anyway.

That sucks. I've done this before when my friend was with me. I had gone to buy my boyfriends present. This was back when I had my first car and I didn't have a button to lock the car so to lock it all you had to do was press down the lock and it locked all the doors and when you unlocked it, you used the key.

Well, I guess when I got out of my car I left the keys hanging out in the ignition and just pressed the lock down. I was so embarrassed but I always kept my house keys separate from my car keys so I called another friend to pick me up, take me back home, get the spare, and take me back to the parking lot.

If I were tied up, would you ring my bell?

Nope I still live at home with my parents.

I called my Mum first and I was like "OMFG HELP MI PLZ MUMMY" but she couldn't find the spare key so I had to call the AA. Typically, I found it within minutes of getting home.

Oh well.

I have not; however, I did leave the keys in the ignition one night.

I had this happen to me during a beach trip I took. I left my keys inside the car when I needed them the most since none of my parents knew I was out there and secondly I lost my glasses in the ocean so I was fucked over for driving. So I smashed my car door window and managed to drive back. I hate it when that shit happens.
