Allow me to end this thread. I own a BCF-2000 right now. I cannot live without it. Motorized faders with a reasonably low latency (in the range of 15-25ms for me through USB using ASIO Multimedia) have changed how I mix. Mine was purchased last December, has not even one single hiccup in almost a year, and I've dropped this baby twice. No broken faders, no broken rotaries, it's beautiful. If you use FL, I can give you the exact process to put it into full working order without midi learn in under 45 seconds, or you can watch the video at youtube. Frankly, I would rather give up every other piece of hardware in my studio than my motorized faders and total recall.
All of that said, here's my only gripe. While it works superbly in FL in Mackie Emulation mode, it is not so intuitive in Sonar. It does work, and well enough to be useful, but some of it's higher functions are alot harder to get to in Sonar. In FL you can highlight a channel with a single button press, hit another button to go directly to that insert's 3 band EQ on the faders, hit another button to get to "Lots of Sliders" Preset mode where you can program up to 4 (I think) banks of sliders and knobs to any VSTi, VSTFX, or whatever you want in FL, then hit another button to return to mixer function, all without moving the mouse. In Sonar, the same two button presses take you to a much less intuitive 3 band EQ and a function I've yet to learn the usage of. But these are minor gripes and mostly my own fault for not reading up more on Sonar itself.
