LOL. I agree with Tramps. I have seen a nice person just start treating people like garbage just because they started going to church. Apperantly you have not read The Age Of Reason By Thomas Paine or Luthers 9th theises on religion. I suggest you read them and put on the brakes of "it can only be a lifestyle choice" excuse. I have heard it for years. In my experiance none religious people are the nicesest, most caring and most open minded individuals compared to Religious people who are closed minded and believe that the words of a false prophet are true and fact.
Ok, but here's the thing, your life experience doesn't justify placing all religious people into that stereotype. And you really can't make that postulation about religious people today based on your fancy little books there. I can tell its due to bad experience with a particular religious sect due to you sheepishly calling out Christianity in your last sentence. I'd counter you by saying that some of the nicest people I've met have actually been Muslims, Christians, and Hindus.
Of course I've met my share of assholes due to religion as well. I used to go to a church that had a new pastor who, due to his denomination, firmly believed that women had no role other than housekeeping and raising children. They kicked him out once he started trying to act on his views by canceling programs held by female members, believe it or not.
The bottom line is, by stereotyping all religious as closed minded and uncaring individuals, you are making yourself no better than the zealots who believe stereotypes about all nonbelievers. How different is that from the racists, who have had a few bad experiences with [insert ethnicity] people in their lives and therefore accept all the stereotypes and prejudice, and make similar assertions? "All [insert ethnicity] are bad, screw 'em, my race is better.".
Utter stupidity.
