...for wearing a short pink minidress.

^Full story in the link.

I've read this a few times, but I just don't get it.
I really don't get it.

I mean, not to be ignorant, but isn't this the same country that has a famous Carnival every year where is seems the women compete to see who can wear the least amount of fabric and still has it considered clothes?

I mean, why would a whole shitton of students hassle a young woman and accuse her of immorality just for wearing a dress?

Is there anyone from Brazil that can even come close to explaining this to me?

Mmm, tasty ethnocentrism right there!

Swallow your sugar pills, inject your saline, breath in some hydroxide mist and have a nice day.

Is that Brazil? What is happening to the natives there? Are they outta their minds? By expelling her won't do the school any good and furthermore, just give her a warning on the attire will do. This is harsh btw.

Wrong. Look it up, i'm too lazy to explain, plus it's off-topic.

On topic: Brazil, just like the US, UK and pretty much every country has different regions with different sorts of people. A new yorker is different from a san franciscoan (or whatever the denonym is there) who are different from alabamans.
Also don't forget the "Universal Church of the Kingdom of God" - which makes televangellists look like decent and honest people - was born in Brazil.

Wow, that's crazy how so many people would freak out about something like that. I'm really curious about how short the dress was. Any one know? Pictures maybe?

(From article)
the college said it had warned Arruda to change her behavior
It accused her of posing for pictures and provoking other students
having a provocative attitude that was "incompatible with the university environment."

There might also be backstory on her being a manipulative hoe that wrecked 3 to 8 guys and 2 girls' economic and romantic lives, using people for better grades and killing a kitten "because it was calico and that's not hot". I'll withhold picking sides until i know what happened besides "i was just wearing a miniskirt".
