What are some things you were never allowed to do as a child?

One of those things was paintball. I always thought about paintball and wanted to play paintball. Same with airsoft, bb guns, nerf guns and those little suction cup dart guns. I went though my childhood without those things, because I had parents who didn't believe in anything aggressive, manly, etc.

One of the first things I did to celebrate my independence when I moved into my dorm was when I went to the wal-mart down the street and bought an $80 paintball gun. Now that I play regularly, I take it for granted, but it dawned on me earlier, while I was playing, that it hasn't always been this way.

I was never allowed to express myself through technology modification. My parents arent letting me build a computer, even though i have schoolfreinds who can help.

I wasn't allowed to watch Ed, Edd n Eddy. (By the time that she probably wouldn't have cared, I was one of those edgy new teens that was "too cool" for cartoons)

I wasn't allowed to play Yu-Gi-Oh (Mom thought they were demonic, but Pokemon cards were A-Ok...And looking at the people at my school that played Yu-Gi-Oh, in retrospect, I thank her)

I also wasn't allowed to watch any movies that were rated 15 or 18, or play any games rated T or M (Ah, it was so strange, being an American living in England with an American N64 and Gamecube...)

I also wasn't allowed to use the Internet for anything other than Neopets or e-mail. (I abandoned Neopets when I was 10...)

I Love my mom and dad. They were the best parents a kid could ask for.

I wasn't allowed to go near the street or have friends over unless my parents knew them. And had to answer the phone a certain way.

I was and still aren't allowed to sleep over at houses of the opposite sex.

Even if there are other people over.

My dad thinks I'm gonna have tentacle sex with them or something...

Well, the big ones were I was never allowed to buy an air-rifle or any ornamental weaponry (e.g. swords). However, I was also never allowed up past when my dad told me to go to to bed. I'm still not allowed, to a degree, and I'm 18.

I was never allowed to watch South Park or The Simpsons. It was too crass for my parents, apparently.

Now they admit that The Simpsons can be pretty fun, as can Family Guy. Haven't sold them on South Park yet, though.

Also, I was never allowed to have a pet. Not even a goldfish. :(

How life played out for me is kind of messed up. When I was young and weak but highly aggressive my parents refused me any punching bags or fighting training. When I moved out at the age of 17 I began to train and lift weights for fitness but became calm. I now notice that the closer I get to my body goal the less I want to fight outside of a arena and how much more I tolerate before a fight. When I was a skinny faggot I started the fights. Now I'm a light tank and refuse to fight unless it's for my or anothers rights.

I'm SO rambling right now.

ARE YOU MAN ENOUGH FOR THIS?

The most important thing that I wanna do but not allowed to when I was young was swimming. Whenever my parents were to bring me to the swimming pools or beaches, my grandparents will never allow me to go and now, they asked me to learn to swim, I told them this...

"When I was young, you don't allow me to swim and now, you expect me to learn? Who am I to you? You just didn't care about me. It's all about you, you and you."

They were stumped and lost for words. Though I do regretted saying this, till now, I'm still struggling to learn swimming. Haiz... :(
