At Fan Expo this August, some producer or co-director guy came to show some concept art and such and did some Q & A, and also we saw the trailer with crazy surround sound.

It looks really nice, they definitely captured that futuristic feel, and with Daft Punk doing the music, holy crap.

The game was based on the original 1982 movie actually. Well, based on the light cycle part anyway.

Cheaper than paying someone for an original idea, probably.

Anyway, Tron was pretty cutting edge for its day, if lacking a cohesive storyline. (If you haven't seen the original Tron, do so. It's a prerequisite for nerd-dom.) I'll probably end up watching it in the theaters so I can get the full effect of the CG, but I'm not expecting to be wowed by the plot.

But I have to give Disney due credit for bringing back the original cast after so many years. That had to be pretty difficult to pull off.

Fun fact: apparently Tron was disqualified for getting a special effects award from the Academy. Something about using a computer being tantamount to cheating.
