He said a variant! I am assuming he means something of a similar system, probably along the lines of All Flesh Must be Eaten.

I've never actually played Call of Cthulu... which is odd since I'm a fan of Lovecrafts stories and I I'm also an avid TTRP gamer... but I'm pretty sure that the Call of Cthulu game is probably set up like a thriller slasher type RPG. I'm sure it had rules for zombies, so perhaps in the short Call of Cthulu game he played the only thing he really got around to fighting were zombies... or perhaps thralls to an elder god that were described in such a way that he might think they were zombies.

I've never seen any zombies in Call of Cthulhu, then again I've only flipped through through the book a few times and never actually played it. From what I can tell (both from what I've read and from what my roommate has told me) most of the game is about scene, tone, mindfuckery, and often times the eventual failure in the face of incomprehensible horrors.
So it seems lovecraftian enough to me.

Gnome barbarian is easy to play. Rage the fuck out, sunder armour on the legs, called shot to the groin.

Don't they have a really complicated system when it comes to damage. Kind of like the Blue Planet damage system, one where you can break your leg or lose an eye. your chance of dying is more likely dependent on where and how you get hit than how many hit points you have left. Maybe that was just Blue Planet, but I heard from my brother that Call of Cthulu also had damage rules that worked like that.
It sort of makes the game more realistic, instead of having a super powered hero you just some puny mortal facing powers you can't even conceive.

I know Cthulu outright kills 1d4 characters per round with no save.
Do any of you guys play Dungeons and Dragons? I hope to death I'm not alone here.
Try Warhammer, in my opinion it's a bit better thn D&D...
I would probably play it, if I had it, knew how to play it, or people to play it with.
I made this sig myself and I am proud of it.

I've tried Warhammer a few times man, my brother painted a bunch of miniatures and was freaking out because he did it for nothing, because he has no friends who play it and nobody to play with, I was forced to play with him a few times. It was alright, but honestly, not as great as D&D, in Dungeons and Dragons you really use your imagination, especially as a Dungeon Master. I don't even like comparing the two.
Yeah, whatever.

that's so...from the old ages. According tto one of my friends, it got big at her school because it was so 'retro' for the indiefags and sceneshits.

Sig by PabMo. Thank you very much.
I play D&D, but I don't do it to "escape reality" or anything. It's just a really fun game.
I've tried it once or twice, but it didn't really stick, honestly.
I TRIED D&D with my gang of buddies, unfortunately they couldnt remain focused long enough. They named their characters retarded stuff like "Hubert" and "Cranky Sausage Fingers". They actually didnt TRY to play the game, they just made a joke out of it. Which is annoying, i put at least $100 bucks into manuals and miniatures.
I have a few friends that are REALLY into D&D and I've seriously tried to play, but it's incredibly boring. I find that there are better games out there to play.
I don't see it as nerdy or any of that crap, however the people that tend to play do get addicted to it. (most)
http://www.ddo.com/ Link to the MMORPG for those asking. It's also advertised on NG - in fact, the ad on my screen now is for it.

I'm scared to play it, because one even though I and my friends (ok ok, just me; my friends are all actually cool) are losers, I'd hate to be seen as a STEREOTYPICAL loser.
Also, I'm scared because as great and powerful as my imagination is... I'd be a sore loser and/or winner, or I'd probably be a n00b about it.
So... yeah. No.

Speaking of WoW... I quit 2 months ago, and my art has gotten ALOT better lol...
No way in hell am I going back to that game. ~_~
I sense distress, maybe it's just the voices again.

I play D&D a lot lately, I play D&D video games, D&D facebook games, and I play the original D&D, and the new ones.
I find D&D to not only be a life changing, fun experience.
But living as a wizard fighting ogres and dragons is a lot cooler than sitting around, getting drunk, and getting high.

Wait a second, first you were homeless last year, now this year your getting into D&D?
Spill it either one or the other is a lie, because no one who decided to live without shelter would perfer D&D.
