Hey NG, i just got my Ubuntu disk today in the mail. So far i love it. But i'm a n00b at Linux right now so can anyone tell me cool programs that i can get on this? Or if you know anything cool to do on linux

there's not many programs that are Linux-friendly, thats why not so many people use it.

Just rumage through the package manager or the ubuntu store and you'll find stuff.

Wine is a great app, which lets you run almost every windows program.

Just Google will suffice.

Wine runs about 2/3 of windows programs with a reasonable level of reliability. And it comes pre-installed on Ubuntu, so you just have to turn it on.(just google wine and click the first result to find out how)

OR you can remove that hard drive with ubuntu installed and replace it with a hard drive from the thrift store with a REAL OS like windows installed.

Especially when most programs are made for HP, Compaq and many others. Apple, like Linux, has limited programs too as only Apple and Linux create their own software and not user-friendly.

I hear Google, apart from being a great source of Linux hints, also provided a lot of recent source code, as they use Linux for 3/4 of their work force.
