What exactly do i delete if i do that? What does it do?

Cuz some people say it can help with getting rid of the "stuck medals" problem...
but it won't clear my savegames, or any already achieved medals will it?

also. there probably is a hotkey combination for it, any1 know what that is? :P

tnx guys,

Not exactly sure about this one, but nothing harmful I can assure you.

No it won't deleted any received medals. I believe those are saved on an NG server anyway so there is not even a possible way to delete them yourself. It won't delete save games either.

Ctrl + F5 ;)

Okay, I can help.

It's pretty basic stuff. In fact I clear my cache whenever I finishing browsing.

I'll show you using Firefox. But it may differ from browser to browser.

Go to Tools -> Clear Recent History (See Picture).

Your Cache, simply is a dump or 'empty room' . It allows a browser to leave information, data and objects in temporary files on your computer, at high speed. It will just get a bit clogged up if it isn't cleared from time to time.

Definition.

Then, once you have that menu. Click the Details Arrow and check all boxes. (See Picture). Then just quit the browser and restart.

I'm not sure either, but I think that it clears things such as temporary page memory?
Like if you would click 'go offline' and then cleared your cache, I think it would not show any pages. I clear my cache every time I close firefox, so it's not harmful at all.

Yea, they're stored on the NG server. It won't do anything. Saved games, medals, checkpoints, etc. will not be lost.

Ctrl + F5

This is what I was thinking.

when you load a website your browser being clever saves elements of the page, this includes images and stylesheets to a "cache", this is so that when you go back to that website you don't have to redownload the stuff, saving your own bandwidth and the bandwidth of the server.

Clearing your cache removes all these files, so it's basically saying "Hey newgrounds, please resend me everything that is used to view this page!" and then it does. So if you go to newgrounds.com at 10pm and then at 10:30PM bob changes the colours of links, if you return at 11PM you'll still see the old colours because your browser has saved the files that set the colours, clearing your cache would update to the latest version and you'd see the new links. Some websites get around this with code to tell your browser to refresh stuff when it's changed.

You're correct about medals, when you receive a medal it's added to the ng database for your account, you are however wrong about the saved games. Saved games in the majority (except those that have an account system) are saved to your computer, depending on your browser this can be included in your cache (although I think it's normally temporary files, but browsers act differently.). So saved games are limit to your computer, if you remove the files then you'll lose the game.

I sort of know what clearing the cache is, and now I know more. :P

Anyway, for Firefox, I'm not entirely sure the clear cache hotkey is ctrl + F5. All that appears to do is refresh the page, though that could be what it is set to do?

No, CTRL + F5 does NOT clear your cache. It's a "forced refresh" where the browser loads all images, etc. again from the webpage and not from the cache. And by doing so the browser might overwrite any old existing images he previously got from that site with the new ones, but the cache itself isn't cleared.
