The band's guitarist recently reported that Steven Tyler quit the band after a concert in Abu Dhabi:

"Steven quit as far as I can tell," Perry said. "I don't know any more than you do about it. I got off the plane two nights ago. I saw online that Steven said that he was going to leave the band. I don't know for how long, indefinitely or whatever. Other than that, I don't know."

"Part of the problem", Perry said, "is that Tyler doesn't return his phone calls. He's notorious for that," "That's one thing I've learned to live with. I try to overlook it. I like to pick my battles. Frankly, the last few months I've been wanting not to rock the boat. I don't want him canceling any more gigs. We really wanted to do these last four. We just kind of didn't want to call him out or anything and get him anymore pissed off, for whatever reason. So we just let things lie. So we did the gigs and, like I said, I got off the plane and saw this online. That's how I know about it."

If I didn't know Heath Ledger was the actual actor, I'd be sure that Steven Tyler was the joker in The Dark Knight.

Fuck! I just happen to be one of those 4 fans of aerosmith. Tyler does not have much of a reason to quit. I dont see what went wrong.

That's a pretty good reason.

I guess he don't want to walk this way. And I suppose that means they're on permanent vacation, unless they decide to come together and get back in the saddle again. But this sort of things happens to all bands sooner or later, it's the same old song and dance, and it just means they're coming around full circle again.

Anyway OP, I can't believe he left. It doesn't seem like he had a good reason to, but if he must know something we don't.

IIRC he's still in the band. The whole thing was more of a joke.
When they asked him why he came back he said "they were having auditions, so I showed up and got accepted" or something like that, I don't remember it well.

I never liked that band anyway. They are way too old to still be "rock stars".

Oh well. I don't see why people stay in a band for 40 years. I could barely go 10 years without having to call it quits.
