Agree on this, They have horrible product support.

Also, I really don't like the user interface will all the keys and weird mouse.

"Computer, Open Adobe Photoshop CS4." I just saved 20 seconds finding the shortcut.

Problem is 2014 is coming and its time for change as far as an OS is concerned. I am indeed kind of sick of having to shell out 80 plus dollars a year for security.

I don't think it particularly matters.

I myself am using Windows, but only because I've been on Windows most of the time (I've had a couple of macs though) and therefore Windows seems alot friendlier, I know all the tricks and such and wouldn't have to gain knowledge on all of the Mac features, for example, my dad has a mac and it's taken me about 3 years to find it has a voice recognition system.

But then I hear of this bootcamp, where you can simply partition your hard drive and use another OS alongside Snow Leopard.

The decision is yours.

You hate change, I'm guessing... XP is out-dated as hell now. 7 IS simple and easy-to-use, with options to disable the "flashy and transparent stuff."

20 seconds to find a shortcut? You're not very tech-savvy, are you?

I was in the same position as you about a month back. I needed a new laptop and wasn't sure whether to wait for Windows 7 or try something new, in this case Snow Leopard. In the end I went for Snow Leopard, and I will never look back on this choice. This is my first ever Mac, and I am really pleased with it, despite thinking I would never own one.

Perhaps the one downside is that they aren't the best machines for gaming. I didn't intend on using my laptop for games, but I decided to give it a go. I have Team Fortress 2 working, but I had to use a piece of software called Crossover to do so.

Anyway, good luck with your decision. My vote goes for Snow Leopard.

I dont have a Mac, and I dont have the £1000000000 to buy a mac thats matched to my PC. So Windows 7 for me. If I had a mac Id probably get the new OS, but I really dont want to spend extra money downgrading to a mac.

Third option: Ubuntu. I haven't tried it myself, but it's supposed to be pretty user-friiendly - and because it's open source, you don't have to pay for it.

I think Dell still offers Ubuntu on some of their models as an alternative to Windows. And after last year's malware fiasco, I am NEVER getting a Windows system again. Long story short, Internet Explorer let a level-5 trojan into the root of the OS, and I didn't even have it open.

Just use Microsoft Security Essentials.

Tbh, both OS's are very similar, but if you want 100% compatibility, I'd go with Windows.
