I have to wtie a short story with at least 20,000 words in it by the end of the month. I can't think of anything to write about. What are some ideas that I could use to get started?

You can write a story about a cowboy who kills a corrupt sheriff. Or something about a robot doing...stuff. I usually get my ideas for writing stories for school from watching various flashes, and they give me some inspiration, might work out for you.

Plan it out in general and then work in more and more detail. Then start writing.

But I did robots last year. And I don't think watching flash videos that contain nothing but cock jokes and meme references will help any.

Trust me, there's plenty of videos without that. Look in the serious parts of the movie section, or probably the noir part, they have plenty of awesome videos that don't contain that. Or you could listen to a song, that could give you an idea. PM anyone that's in the monthly writing competitions and I'm sure they can easily help you.

Write about a prison guard that slowly gives into the corrupt system.
Write about a pig with the mind of a human but could not communicate with humans.
Write about the life of a tree
Write about a story about a prisoner of war slipping into insanity as he was seeing no hope of his country helping him
Write other people slipping into insanity
There are so many things to write, the trick is picking one.

I once wrote a 10 page story about a man who set out to destroy every teenager at his local beach by throwing jellyfish at them, which caused them to implode upon impact. And I got the idea from the news.
The point here? Look to the "weird" side of the media.
