Eyeballs are a liquid substance, mostly water, and therefore would "melt" as soon as they left our eye sockets. It's amazing that they can even be suspended at such angles without spilling. I know there's a barrier protecting it, or I'm pretty sure anyway, but I forgot what that is called.
