Getting high off lighter gas?

So basically, while sitting at a few benches with my friends at lunch, we noticed a more than usual amount of people hanging behind the gym. People usually go behind the gym at lunch to smoke, but normally it's only about 2-6 people. There were at least 20 people, leaning against the wall or sitting down in small circles.

After school, I queried my friend who I spotted with this mass of people as to what they were doing. Apparently they were sniffing the gas from their lighters to get high? I asked her if it worked, she laughed and said yes, and then complained she had a headache.

Getting high off of lighter gas, what the fuck? Ever had this experience or known any of your friends to do something similar. Sounds dumb to me.

I once had to be rushed to the hospital after i accidentally inhaled lighter gas after trying to fill a lighter. I could only breathe with half a lung, if that makes any sense.

Here's some background on hydrocarbon abuse, as in the case of inhaling the gas from a lighter.

It's really stupid. They call it "huffing". It works with paint-thinner, spray-paint propellant, other miscellaneous propellants, gasoline, and of course, the gas from a lighter.

If you're that desperate to get "high", pick up a fucking 10-bag.
