A real animal lover would feel guilty about killing an animal, yes by accident too.
Guilt is a completely useless emotion. Empathy on the other hand is fine, and this dude certainly seems empathetic.
If someone came along and murdered your parents, your friends, and your family, I mean like really did this, and then just plaid it off as "Woops, finger slipped on my gun, sorry guy, but hey theres 6.70-something billion other people on the planet, why don't you go bother them?" How would you feel? There was another guy saying "all living things die eventually" - but this was a puppy, probably a couple of months old, if it had died in birth, before birth, or after birth due to natural complications, it would have been one thing; if it had died after birth due to illness or any number of illnesses or something (which is not uncommon when someone is running a puppy mill in their dirty ass apartment) it would be one thing, but this guy died because some clumsy fuck trapped it in his endless gelatinous folds and slowly crushed the life out of it. (Then posed the dead dog for a picture on the internet).
Empathy is just as much bullshit, because it's almost "I know I should feel bad, because society and its morals tell me I should" its like the halfway point between emotional activity and autonomy, almost actually feeling the motion and partially driven entirely by external stimulus as a cause-and-effect (i.e "I see that someone is crying, so I should go and ask them what is wrong."). Guilt has its place as an emotion, it drives people to change. if a person is guilty about something, they will work hard to make amends, or will work so that nobody follows in their footsteps and such.
Just going to point out also, that this kid is running a puppy mill with his friend, which are notorious for selling dogs when they are too young, which leads to them getting depressed, malnourished, and refusing to eat due to being improperly weaned from its mother, it causes undue stress and shortens the dogs lifespan. Dogs bred in puppy mills are also generally more susceptible to disease, generally don't live as long and are harder to take care of because of it, I believe.
I dunno I mean the guy seems like he could care, but on the other hand he seems so dismissive and passive like he just shrugs it off and takes another picture of this dead dog all posed like it's flying through the air toward its glamorous grave in a landfill next to all sorts of other junk that people once cared about. To me, its like digging up grandma, dressing her up and toting her around all Weekend At Bernie's style, then just leaving her on the beach and forgetting about her after getting distracted by some kid with a metal detector hunting bottle caps or something. I dunno. For a while on 4chan a couple years ago, I think, there used to be shock threads where Japanese women would crush kitten skulls and stomp on them with stiletto boots, and that shit got to me too.
