I suppose the problem is because sports is fun and gives us adrenaline boosts even if it's just from sitting on a sofa and watching. They can be a really great past time and one that dumb and smart people alike can understand and enjoy.

They get paid way too much though.

What kid wouldn't want to be a sports star when they see how glamourous that lifestyle is?

Yea, how much is it? 50 million a year?
You can't even make that much with 3 Phd's from fucking Harvard, but you can make that much if you know how to hit a ball or shoot some hoops.

Exactly, but hey. Whos to say we couldn't glamorize science as much as athletics?
If we made the scientist look like, rugged bad-asses, they'd be just as popular.

Science gives me a huge boner and everyday I wonder why I didn't become a science teacher.

As for being overpaid? Yeah. Yeah they are. Sure they put their bodies on the line when they play but for such strange periods of time. 9 million to stand in a field and catch baseballs. I earn 8 dollars an hour FUCK YEAH I'd take that in an instant.

I agree. I'm not interested in sports at all and I'm planning to get a degree in physics. Sports stars definitely get payed too much, when great minds live in poverty most of their lives and these guys go run around on a field or a court and they make millions.

You win a nobel prize you get about 1.5 million dollars.

You win the superbowl you get commercial deals on top of the millions you already make yearly.

It's never too early for Christmas.

Why do football/sports/hollywood actors get paid so much? Because what they do can be marketed to a large audience with one performance.
Even if a scientist invents something useful to everyone, its very unlikely that a single product will help a lot of people at once and produce revenue.
