AOE III
After that was Uncharted 2.
You can tell that I don't really like multiplayer portions of games.

Unreal Tournament. The original Unreal Tournament. Way back in 1999. I found the very concept of 16 player multiplayer absolutely incredible. And I can honestly say that to this day I've been hard pushed to find a more satisfying multiplayer experience.

Probably unreal tournament '99. Mechwarrior, mechcommander and battlezone were also pretty badass to play online back then.

To my Knowledge is was Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast. It is still one my my all time favorite games and there is still a cult following to the online play. Close contenders are Halo 2 on the Xbox and Starcraft on the PC. All the mentioned games were my first interactions with online play and are on the top of my favorite games list.

I never really bother playing Multiplayer games online til I played Mario Kart DS. Now these days, Skulltag (an online DOOM source port for those who don't know) is what I play a lot online.
