full title what is the first multiplayer game you played online for me it was deus ex for the pc what is yours?

Mine was a really old game called Wormhole, where you flew around in a ship, killed monsters, collected power-ups, and sent those power-ups through the titular wormholes at other players to attack them.

The site that ran the game shut down ages ago. I miss it so... :'(

I'm sure I played little games online via Yahoo games or AOL games back in the day, but the first, real, full fledged awesome online experience I ever engaged in was Starsiege Tribes. Back in '99 baby!

Followed shortly by Unreal Tournament, and a sickening addiction to Diablo 2.

There may have been another one but the first time I can clearly remember playing a multiplayer game was Vindicators on the NES. Me and my sister used to play it all the time, but the controls were so hard to wrap my head around that I'd always lose focus after a few minutes and get bored. I still have some fond memories of it even if it didn't draw me to games as much as Megaman 2 did.

Oh god, online, I can't fucking read for shit at 1:30 in the morning. Some crappy MMORPG off of AOL back in the days when I had no clue what the internet really was. I can't fucking believe that there was a time when I thought that main AOL space used to be what the internet really was. When I realized that there were different websites that you could go to I wasn't even impressed. I thought all that jazz was a waste of time compared to the great features and chatrooms that AOL offered. That would be like someone today starting up Internet Explorer and never leaving MSN.com.

Same actually. Too many hackers though, at first I was amazed at how "skilled" these players were. But eventually I caught on a picked up Counter Strike 1.6.. I got insanely addicted to it and played it for years. Sometimes I'll even go back and play a couple rounds. It's a shame none of my old favourite servers are still up and running. There was a couple cool crouds in there if you wanted a laugh.
