Well folks, I've decided to start up a writing contest right about now, with the Halloween writing competition over and what not. "What is this competition about?" you might ask. Well, allow me to explain.
The Newgrounds Flash Poetry Competition is a competition where you submit poems based on your favorite flash submissions. Maybe a certain submission felt like the story could be added on to, or maybe it impacted you emotionally. Either way, just right a poem about a movie or game you enjoyed, and have fun doing it!
=======
Rules
=======
1. Must be a flash submission found here on Newgrounds.
2. You need to provide a link to the submission at the beginning of your post.
3. You can have as many or as little words as you like, but please separate your stanzas
4. It's alright if you don't have a rhyme scheme, but make sure to have some sort of repeating pattern throughout the poem.
5. Make sure to tell which type of poem it is when submitting. If you're unsure as to what type of poem yours is, be sure to look at this list of poetry types before submitting.
6. No KK, DD, or any crew flashes. It may seem lulzy, but it'll just make you miss out on the prize.
==========
Prizes
==========
1st place- A generous $20 from me via Paypal
2nd place- $15 via Paypal
3rd place- $10 via Paypal
They may not be large prizes, but hey, it's something. If you don't already have a Paypal, I suggest you sign up. I'll PM you with details regarding your prizes after we have winners. If you'd like to judge for this contest, send a PM my way, and we'll talk.
This is a SUBMISSIONS ONLY THREAD. I'll have the talk thread up in just a minute.
Here's an example I came up with myself about the kind of stuff I'm looking for in this thread:
Rooftop Man
a sonnet by ThePortalGuru
As I run across rooftops
jumping 'cross in leaps and hops.
Love the wind, love the rush,
love the chill, like ice cold brush.
Legs spinning in constant cycle,
pavement flying beneath my feet.
Ground tumbling, as I'm stumbling
beat after beat after beat.
When jump, I soar
gravity, nevermore.
Fly through glass like it's thin as paper,
coat fluttering like a cape.
Sight zooms out, buildings taper,
as I begin my daring escape.
