My mother's killer,26 years in jail

This is an understandably tough issue for me, and one that I don't tend to talk about often, but I dunno, it's good to get these things out. It's been one and a half years now, and I'm glad that I can start putting all of this nastiness behind me.

26 years is apparently the longest sentence ever handed out in Western Australia, and while I'm not trying to be too happy about it, I'm just glad that this guy can't harm anyone else.

This is a very horrible thing. It does suck. It's good that he is now behind bars, but the time he got wasn't enough.

I think it's funny, in a way, that people joke about things like this. If it had happened in their life, they would probably cry like children. Along with having many other feelings.

From the article, I noticed that your mom had numerous restraining orders out against this guy. Did the police tell her that, unless this wacko harmed her or broke a law, that they couldn't do anything about it? Because the same thing happened to one of my friends who was being stalked by an ex-boyfriend. The police told her that, unless the boyfriend harmed her, or broke a law, they couldn't do anything to protect her. Clearly something is wrong with the legal system when the outcome is such a tragic ending, like your mom's.

I know you can't just "get over" something like this, but I hope that, with time, the pain subsides.

It's been pretty tough, but we're just taking it as it comes. Hopefully going back to uni next year will put me in a better state of mind.
