They hide in pokeballs.

Either that or you just don't spend enough time outside.

I have never seen one in someones house. I have never seen one in a pet store in my area. I also would never see one outside either. The adults are pretty cool looking though.

Heh. Yeah, they're cute alright. As for the legality... don't quote me on this but I think it varies from state to state. I searched google to find a list but... all I found was that if you're in California or New Jersey and perhaps Maine, you're out of luck according to
this

Anyway, you can look at the rest of the search results here: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&clien t=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla%3Aen-US%3Aof ficial&hs=NhT&q=axolotl+united+states+le gality&btnG=Search&aq=f&oq=&aqi=
(be sure to remove the spaces)

Also be sure to read up on them so you'll be able to take care of the little guy if you end up getting one. I'm sure you know that but just a reminder.

Good point, woopers are based of Axolotl. But mudkips are too, based of mudpuppies.

Axolotls are a critically endangered species.

It'd probably cost a gnarly bunch to buy one as a pet.

Yes

but those are genetically modified, which probably amps the price up and makes them a bit more rare

the more you hate it, the stronger it gets

I had a axolotl for a very little while last year.
I called it McCain because I thought John McCain looks a lot like an axolotl.

It's moved around to families to families for several years...

DId you enjoy your time with it? Me and my friend both want to buy one (each) or two, and she keeps asking if they have charisma.

Not really... you can look at it, but you can't really interact with it.
Plus, it was brief... the little thing had been passed along by so many people for several years.

I gave it away because I got 6 birds to take care of, and my mom disliked the little guy. I think they're adorable... their faces look like pillows.
