Simple. Game Making is a business. More so then other mediums because making games are damn expensive. Therefore, Game makers need more to cover the cost of making the actual game. And their's no reason why quality can't be upheld during milking.

So really. Either accept a little milking, or see the Game Industry shrink due to small profits.

Eh, btw, the average game takes less money then the average movie.

When was the last time you heard of a one billion dollar game budget?

Spiderman 3 had a one billion dollar budget.

Logic could have given about the same amount of information your post did.

Also, originality proves to run better then milking, you tell me what happened with Resident Evil 5, then you tell me what happened with Dead Space.

Resident Evil 5 killed Dead Space in sales. I can understand what you're saying about originality but from a business stance Resident Evil 5 was the way to go. People have a bad habit of buying more of the same and game companies/publishers know this.

Most huge franchises like Mario and Halo are very good games and have high quality standards. So let the bastards churn out all the games they want. Nobody is gonna make you buy it anyway.

Look, as long as the games are good, I wouldn't give a flying fuck.

I don't think it did, back that up with numbers and I'll admit I was wrong, if you can.
Actually, nevermind, I was wrong, in total sales, RE5 beat Dead Space with a nice 1.2 million, however, in U.S. sales, they hit them pretty close.

But look at the satisfaction ratings, they're oh so low, lets see how well RE6 will do.

Mario has a pretty good record, if you ignore the Dr. Mario and CD-i games. It's interesting that you bring up Halo, seeing as people claim that the franchise is being incessantly milked. I'm not sure how, personally, seeing as there's only been five games in the whole franchise in nearly ten years. The way I see it, five quality games from the same development studio (Halo: Reach being the fifth) in just under a decade is the complete opposite of milking a franchise.

Call of Duty, on the other hand, seems to the escape the flak that every other FPS cops, especially given that it's had eleven, just about twelve, since 2003.

Warshark is fucking awesome.

This Bill Watterson cartoon pretty much shows how these types of things work out. Just replace cartoon character with video games.
