I remember a time when post apocolysm was wicked radical. About the same time wicked and radical were cool words, back in the 90's. Terminator 2 was the greatest movie, and with the looming threat of Y2K there were all kinds of theories and interpretations in entertainment about what life would be like AFTER the apocalypse. Duke Nukem 3D was the best game, and even Fallout came around.
So what the fuck's the big deal now with all these post-apocalpytic games? Where gamers can explore world's ONCE LIVELY AND COLORFUL but now dreary and gray with either a distinctive green hue over every object or a distinctive light brown tinge. How much more of this nonsense do we need? I used to have a lot of faith in the gaming industry and their ability to create new ideas constantly, but it seems like this generation of systems are flooded with the same bullshit. Gears of War? Resistance? Fallout? Fear? Even Resident Evil? They all either have serious undertones or overtones about the world coming to an end. I don't remember Bowser ever threatening the Mushroom Kingdom with nuclear warfare, or Robotnik making an army of robots to destroy the-.. well he didn't have nukes..
Now there's word of a Fallout MMORPG? Plus some game called Metro 2033? It's like the gaming industry has evolved to imitate the movie business, every time ONE good idea takes off every major studio starts recreating their own shitty version of that exact same idea. Until we have a market flooded with stupid idiot kids and their idiot sisters playing Xylophone Hero while arguing over the internet why it's so much better than Percussion Instrument Band. When Lord of The Rings came out everyone and their mom's tried to steal every idea and create their own battle for middle earth with the hope that people would say "YO ITS JUST LIKE LORD OF THE RINGS", now instead of middle earth it's a bunch of wasteland jockeys running around with energy guns while kids flood the stores with preorders.
think of some new shit i'm bored of this shit already
