I'm going to :3

However, I'll be going the Reaper route. Version 3 looks pretty spiffy, and at $60 for a personal licence, it ain't too hard on the wallet :]

Lol, I still have to get those speakers off of you one of these days XD

Using a DAW within a DAW has always seemed a bit redundant to me :P

I know Simon from Deathtoll is a big Reaper fan though. I saw him at a CTT show wearing a Reaper shirt. What a nerd :P

Heh, I wonder how many kids back in the day were disappointed that they got a master system for christmas, but wouldn't be getting any games until next christmas or their birthday because it "already has a game built in" :P

Having said that, Alex Kidd was a bit of a masterpiece.

Paid for my studio.

What kind of a thread is this anyway.... NG does not promote piracy. Why make a thread designed for people to say they pirated software?

i understand that newgrounds doesnt promote piracy and im not condoning it in any way either . .

it was just out of curiosity as i came across a few things in the flash forums and discovered most of the flash artist i saw were using pirated software . . .

and i do know for a fact the at least everyone out there not just here on NG has pirated software theres no denying it . . .

im not trying to expose people who use pirate software . . but i know for a fact that everyone on here had to start somewhere and downloading some plugins and software to first create music would have been their first option.

and also this isnt a competition to everyone out there to see who has spent the most on software. . so we dont need dollar figures posted . . .

well it's a good assumption. Not many mid teenagers who produce crap are going to belt out the several hundred Adobe Flash wants to keep producing crap. Same principle applies here.

I started off completely pirated, but now the studio is totally legit. Cost several thousand dollars along the way, don't regret a single penny (except for a few random libraries here and there)

Agreed, Maestro. There are a ton of kids out there that aren't paying for this stuff. I suppose the best proof I can provide is to do a random search for torrents of different software packages. Hundreds, sometimes thousands of seeders and leechers.

Myself, yes. I currently own my software. Did I always own what I purchased? No. I never understood why I would pay hundreds of dollars for something that might not suit my needs. Once I realized that the software was for me, I bought it.

Hree's what I own:

FL Studio 8 XXL Producers Edition (Additional license paid for unlimited free updates)
Absynth 4
East West Quantum Leap Complete Composers Collection PLAY Edition (which includes:)
-QL RA
-QL Pianos Gold
-QL Voices of Passion
-StormDrum 2
-Symphonic Choirs
-Symphonic Orchestra Gold

It's nice to know I own this software. You appreciate your stuff so much more when you own the physical copy of it (Not to mention when you shell out teh cash for stuff you FORCE yourself to use it).

you can just look at the "show your desktop" thread in general to see how many people have fl studio

and 'crap' is more subjective when it comes to flash, stickmen vs noise music

you will go to amazon and give great albums a 2 rating, while living in NG fantasy land where everyone gets 4.00+ and write 10 reviews, sucking each other off so the powers that be can elect you to the newgrounds front page creating a contrived fan base

Well audacity is freeware, so I guess I paid every penny for it. But for what I really use to produce music - my guitars and my guitars' equipment (tuners etc.), amps, pedals, mics, recording equipment & speakers, I guess it goes over 6,000. That's not including how much electricity has been used on operating all of this.

Renting the rehearsal room for the band and guitar lessons - 800 a month.

Fixing the guitars and amps when they have issues - 500 (that's about the price of the best DAW, right?).

Strings (estimated) - 150 (This pays for a great software).

Adaptors - 60 (that's what the license costs, according to jarrydn).

Gets you into perspective, DAW users, huh?

The forums is about software. Many of us DAW users, especially myself, could go on and on with hardware. Why would you assume that those who use a DAW have no hardware? Regardless, your post doesn't really fit into the discussion at all. It's just a "Look at how much money I spend" e-peen post.

Well done . . you have demonstrated how much anyone who owns a guitar spends his money a year . .

And you own audacity . . . wow you must be the at the pinnacle of audio production . . im sure everyone here envies you

6000 isnt really that much to be spending on recording equipment and before you make it out how awesome you seem to think you are please take into consideration how much running a studio really costs . .

just in renting commercial space per month your looking at a couple thousand there . .

and for example the current set up i run at the moment i have at least over 15 thousand dollars including hardware, rack gear, mics and software

and i know for a fact that bigger studios will run ten times the amount of that.

claiming that audacity, adapters and guitar amp is all you need in replacement of a full daw . . really does make you sound like an idiot.

I spend about 20% of my yearly income on gear..

I own Pro Tools, Logic Pro 8 (still havnt gotten 9! damn!) and a vast assortment of plug ins.

Its more satisfying to own. plus you get customer support.
