Well audacity is freeware, so I guess I paid every penny for it. But for what I really use to produce music - my guitars and my guitars' equipment (tuners etc.), amps, pedals, mics, recording equipment & speakers, I guess it goes over 6,000. That's not including how much electricity has been used on operating all of this.
Renting the rehearsal room for the band and guitar lessons - 800 a month.
Fixing the guitars and amps when they have issues - 500 (that's about the price of the best DAW, right?).
Strings (estimated) - 150 (This pays for a great software).
Adaptors - 60 (that's what the license costs, according to jarrydn).
Gets you into perspective, DAW users, huh?
Well done . . you have demonstrated how much anyone who owns a guitar spends his money a year . .
And you own audacity . . . wow you must be the at the pinnacle of audio production . . im sure everyone here envies you
6000 isnt really that much to be spending on recording equipment and before you make it out how awesome you seem to think you are please take into consideration how much running a studio really costs . .
just in renting commercial space per month your looking at a couple thousand there . .
and for example the current set up i run at the moment i have at least over 15 thousand dollars including hardware, rack gear, mics and software
and i know for a fact that bigger studios will run ten times the amount of that.
claiming that audacity, adapters and guitar amp is all you need in replacement of a full daw . . really does make you sound like an idiot.
