Games Inspired By Movies

What games do you think take obvious ideas from films, or perhaps make more subtle references? For me, it's probably MK taking inspiration from Enter the Dragon. Some of the references are just so obvious, like how Lee always "Finishes" his opponent, both take place on an island fortress, both have some subplot of one of the characters out for revenge for the murder of their family, and Liu Kang looks shockingly like Bruce himself.

Metal Gear was based on Escpae from NY.

The cover art even looked like a notable scene from the film.

I thought it looked like Kyle Reece from "Terminator", or at least the NES version did.

The Wheelman videogame is a prequel to the film of the same name, whenever it is out.

Everything Kojima has ever made is based off of a movie: Snatcher is Blade Runner that uses android taken from Bubblegum Crisis, Policenauts is Lethal Weapon in space, and over the years, Metal Gear has taken from so many movies that I can't list them all. I do know that it takes some parts James Bond, some parts Terminator, and, like you said, some parts Escape from NY.

if you think about it, most movies after 2000 that were really good almost ALWAYS has several versions of a gae develpoed after them, the idea is roughly the same so it's inspiration.

Also, a lot of stuff from games like halo and that are inspired by classic Sci-Fi flims with the lazers and stuff!

Look at star trek, sheilds, phazers, energy weapons, flying hi-tech shit, and so on!

Black Hawk Down was the insperation to have the beginning of MGS4 in the middle east. I honestly never would have thought Escape from NY could be an insperation for MGS, but now that you mention it I can see it.

I wonder if GTA is at all inspired by the 70's movie of the same name? (oh, it exzists I saw part of it on IFC)
