Evidence if evidence were ever needed that arranged marriages aren't the wonderful things they are made out to be. Also I'd like to point this out:

The Satanic Verses doesn't bash the Islamic prophet Mohammed at all. It makes reference to an ancient legend that was around for centuries before the book was even written. It doesn't claim that this legend is true, it merely makes reference to it. That's it. And that's what resulted in the Japanese language translator of the book being stabbed to death.
