4.09 / 5.00 12,195 ViewsHi, So i started to do an animation.. and so far ive just been concentrating on the scene backgrounds.. After i did 3 scenes backgrounds i decided to add the vcam to see how it looks all together with a lil camera movement... And once i did so I seen the absolute terror.. I mean my computer isnt the fastest but it always handles flash stuff... but i mean this was insanely slow! I tried running it on my mates brand new macbook pro which improved the quality speed but was still terrible... i dont undetstand what it is i need to do to sort that out.. ive never had that problem before =/
Any ideas would be appritiated! Heres a quick link.....
How many fps is it? Is there any code involved? Is there alot of mc's or graphics?

a fair amount of graphics, but not too much.. the only code really is on the play button and the vcam code... i guess the vcam code could slow it down but even if it was that how would i sort that out?
It has got to be something else. Idk why it would do that. Any sounds? Whats the file size?
Theres nothing wrong with your camera.
I suggest you cache as much as you can as a bitmap and use as little filters and alphas as you can.
Iff i REALLY need a speed up i export a background as a PNG and reimport it , little extra size but the speed is awesome.
Also if its an AS2 vcam dont expect much, The AS3 one runs pretty damn smoothly

Its AS3 im using CS4... its really weird why it does that, and on the second scene (inside the building) it more or less crashes =/ its rly weird... i really dont know what causes it... i havnt done anything out of ordinary =/ I guess ill try using them as bitmaps and see how it works
And theres no sounds as of yet... and the swf file size is only 61kb =/ so theres no reason for it to be slow =/

Bullshit , not in the mean sense but i have made flashes around 10kb or even 5 that lag like hell , filesize doesnt directly correlate with speed, i gave some suggestions but i still find it odd, maybe you should script your own camera or convert the tweens to FBF also modify > shape > optimize > random %
It will reduce the amount of vectors in your flash which means less calculation , of course converting to bitmap gets rid of vectors completley
nobody
Yer, ill try optimizing it... if not ill try to convert to bitmap.. the funny thing is.. is that when the vcam isnt there the small tweens like clouds work fine without any lag =/ really weird =/
YOUR V-CAM IS SCALING EVERYTHING
IT IS REDRAWING EVERYTHING ON THE SCREEN BUT SCALED
THIS INCLUDES RECALCULATING THE DIRECTIONS AND SPEEDS OF TWEENS
IF YOU DON'T THINK THIS WILL LAG A BIT YOU ARE TOO NAIVE

Try an AS2 VCam and see if they have the same results. If it goes faster in AS2, its a problem with the VCam. If not, it's a problem with your detail level and you'll have to redraw as bitmaps (as said before).
Make sure you're not making the v-cam rotate or skew in anyway.
Try putting all your backgrounds in a movie clip and check the "Cache as bitmap" box.
i have the same problem. But it went away. I deleted a really really detailed scene with lots of movieclips.
